We have just discovered that if you touch DD with milk/yoghurt on your hands (even if not obviously so e.g. didn't wash hands after eating ice cream but no visible ice cream on them), she comes up in hives where the milk product came in contact with her skin.

She cannot tolerate milk protein through me (diarrhea + reflux) or any legume (so very sensitive to anything that is even slightly similar). If she is this sensitive is there any hope she will outgrow it?

Hi there, I would say that there is hope. From the fact that you have only just discovered this I'd guess that your daughter is still quite a young baby? We had the same experience (eg my daughter kissing my son a little while after drinking her milk would bring him out in hives). We thought he was so sensitive that there was little chance he would ever outgrow it. But now he is 15 months and we're definitely noticing that he's becoming less sensitive. We haven't tried a milk ladder or anything but we have noticed that there is a much less obvious reaction on his skin from accidental contact with milk. This is giving us hope!

My DS couldn;t even be in coffee shops as a baby as he would react to the milk being steamed. If you kissed him after having had milky tea even hours later he would come up in hives. He was also allergic to soy, chickpeas, peanuts and lentils.

He's now 8 and has outgrown all the legumes apart from peanuts. He tests negative for milk allergy on a skin prick test, and actually got quite far with a milk challenge before failing. So he no longer reacts on skin contact, but can't eat any milk products.

so definite improvements in that he is no longer quite as sensitive to milk and has outgrown most legumes, but not outgrown completely. Not sure if that's helpful for you!

my son was skin sensitive to egg and has hives on contact, but can eat it well cooked not raw/partially cooked.

At one point at 2yrs his skin would hive if he stood in the kitchen while i fried an egg. So dont give up hope of outgrowing or lessoning of severity.

Son is now adult living with a list of allergies, but still a shorter list than he had as a child.
