Has anyone else's child come up in a rash around there mouth after having Daddy's ketchup???

My daughter has come up in a rash after having daddys ketchup and also double lollys the only two ingredients that are the same are syrup and corn flour, can anyone help? thankyou

How old id your DD? It's quite common for babies and young children to get red rashes around their mouths when they eat certain foods, especially acidic foods (including fruit). It's perfectly normal and doesn't mean they're allergic but if they have any other symptoms eg the rash spreads elsewhere or they have any swelling of the lips/tongue or breathing difficulties then that would indicate an allergy and should be treated very seriously.

Yes...a group of friends took our kids out to an indoor play barn..bought them lunch there and all the kids who had ketchup had a rash round their mouths..it did go though

Yes, it happens to mine. Also with those little sachets you get in restaurants.

In fact, every variety of tomato ketchup except Heinz.

Hi shes 17 months old now. So this might not happen in the future? Thanks for the help

Not at that age - purely because DS didn't have it then (I hate it so never bought it not some precious mummy type avoidence!)

He got a rash at 4ish when he had ketchup, so avoided it but it happened again until he had quite a bad reaction to it. He tried it again in May (after 15months of none) and 4 hours later he had hives in his neck. (different brands at times).

Last week at a party there were children eating ketchup (I only noticed the child next door to him was when I noticed DS sat hanging off the edge of the table to avoid it!). He came up with a 'red spot' on his cheek. Possibly co-incidence but his hives can present as angry red spots.

So yes it's possible, but also the acid can be blamed.
