Drinking a bottle of wine a night

As the title says, if I don't drink I can't sleep. I've had 2 glasses of wine tonight and I have none left now, I'm going to stop completely from tomorrow as I can't keep doing this. It's no good for my health, makes me feel like crap and more importantly I've got little Ines to care for. I've realised this since last week when I've really admitted I have depression and booked in for cbt therapy starting the end of this week coming. Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with not drinking? I know it will get easier day by day, and I've brought some nice fruity drinks to sip of an evening Smile and getting back into my crafts to keep me occupied (also added sky box sets to keep me occupied if an evening!) I've realised I have a bit of a problem and am looking forward to tomorrow! (Apart from maybe not being able to sleep!) but feel like I've already made a step in the right direction!

Well done with the strategy. How about limiting caffeine tomorrow, drink camomile tea in the evening and have a relaxing bath. Go to bed with a book and then think it doesn't matter if you're not asleep it's the relaxing that counts. Do the alphabet game: think of a category, like countries, then name answers a,b,c, America, Bulgaria, Canada, bet you never get to zambia

John is on the dry 15 thread, we're all giving up alcohol on there...

I thought is really struggle, but am heading towards the 5 months now.

Don't stint on the sugar in the first weeks is my top tip...

Thanks both for the tips! I do have a book I've been meaning to read that I've never gotten round to, (obvious reasons!) I'll dig that back out tomorrow! And to be honest as you say it's the relaxing that counts as i may feel more refreshed in the morning just from that! Feeling worried about it but also excited! I'll cut caffeine out too (marking note to get decaf tea tomorrow!) and not stunting on sugar!

Do your best to not worry to much about 'sleeping' but like others have said have a nice warm bath, make sure your warm and cosy and have some 'wind down time' watching tv, doing crafts or reading a book/magazine. Good luck. Flowers

Suggest telling the health professional(s) helping with your mental health about your drinking: there might be alcohol services available to help.
