No really, properly famous this time...

provided you speak Kazakh and live in Kazakhstan

I'm a bit worried that when we do a birth country revisit we will be swamped by fans at the airport.

Unfortunately i look like a lump though DS does look like a film star in teh making.

I was very worried about the spin they'd put on it as intercountry adoption is a bit of a hot potato over there.

But family of one of the Kazakhs I know said it was very nice and very positive. Very weird seeing yourself dubbed into Kazakh

I was a bit startled as I was expecting to be edited down to a 2 min interview in a 30 min programme that covered heaps of childrne around the world. In fact they did a full 30 mins on each country (5 programmes in total) and we are actually quite a large part of this programme (as DS is old enough to be interviewed and was semi-coherent unlike the other chidlren involved)

funny Moomoomie, as I looked at my blobbiness being eaten by the sofa I did genuinely think "Oh well at least my hair looks OK"!

Aww, your DS is so cute, and a very agile little footballer. He was a bit at some of the link bits where the presenter was speaking Kazakh and he was standing beside her. I had to try lip reading (which I'm quite rubbish at) as it was hard to hear you over the dubbing.

bearing in mind this was done last summer and he wasn't even 8 I think he handled himself quite well... especially with a football.

I've just watched it. you can pick up quite a lot, but it is really frustrating that they dub the Russian, so you can't hear it!

You come across as very sensible and a lovely mum, your ds is fab!

I was surprised though that they didn't post his name as the Russian/Kazakh version of his name but as another name, did they use his birth name??

And I am sure I have met you somewhere!! (feels a bit WOO!)

I did feel for your DS when the presenter had her arm round him and was talking loudly in a language he didn't understand - it can't have been easy for him.

He came across very well, as a really lovely little chap You came across very well too!

steppemum yes they used his birth name which is still his middle name. WE didn;t have a problem with that but it was odd becasue they used the adoptive first names of all teh other children even though some of them had very non-russian/kazakh first names and I chose his first name as one which worked in all three languages!

No - but I already knew all of them! One of the comments the journalist made when I met her was "you're famous everyone we've met knows you!"

I run a UK Kazakh adoption group so a core group of families meet 2-3 times a year. And even those who don't generally come I've met at some point or other.

I have to say, that the longer I watched it, the more convinced I was that I had met you! It was your face and voice rather than name or story, so i am wondering if our paths crossed in Kazakhstan!

Kew... Your son is wonderful, a real credit to you. I love the way he kept looking at you off camera when she was teaching him.

And yes.... Your hair looked very nice, as did the rest of you. I feel I really know you now, as I have been in your home.

That's so sweet of you Moomoomie. He was only 7 (last summer) when it was filmed and was going through a very tough time so I was a bit apprehensive about how it would affect him but he loved it!

I had forgotten that he had no front teeth then!
