Mine are to publish more first author papers.

And you know, tenure, but I think that I will go for the first as the second seems a bit far fetched!

Concentrate on my own work and not be a 'good citizen'. Crap, I know, and others will have to pick up the pieces, but I have been in this long enough, putting myself forward for this and that, and don't really buy into that stuff about giving the younger ones a break... Anyway I cant be promoted any higher and others can do the extra stuff for their own career building.

I expect we'll be on strike again too at some point.

Trying to balance my current commitments without taking on any more. This is easier said than done when Profs I respect encourage me to go for bids that sound right up our street. I have enough papers in my head to last the year and more than enough time commited to projects and teaching. So I guess I'm going to have to get better at saying no to opportunities which goes against my nature but will be necessary for staying sane I guess.

Try to squeeze some research into each week while teaching. I need to be even more efficient or stop sleeping

I am really a bit boring and have already mapped out my work for the coming year, til Sept at least. I'm not taking on anything else, just doing exactly what I've planned out under each section (so papers, grants, teaching, conferences, supervision). I prioritize them and then list actions to take to achieve each one, and tick off and add new ones as they arise. Then when I am really tired/running around like a headless chicken/can't see the wood for the trees, I read my plan and remember what I'm doing! I used to spend a lot of time flitting between tasks and remembering what I have to do, and this has cut down on that. I also usually have a daily to-do list as well which again cuts down on the mental load.

My resolution therefore is just to do the things on the list and very little else!
