Posting here because I can't tell anyone IRL before I tell my DH and that won't be til after work.

Had a massive interview last week. Worked hard for it. Felt like it was a real long shot because it's a fantastic uni in my field and I'm a very new lecturer (come from industry). Anyhow the call has just come in - I got the job! And they said I was great!

It's going to be a huge step up for me in every sense and quite terrifying, but I'm so proud of myself! (I've also got to get used to the fact that we might have to move house and in a direction I don't want to go, but that's another issue). And wow, it's a much, much better place academically than where I am now. So obviously the fear is kicking in now, but....! A permanent contract! With £ and everything! This time last year I wasn't even thinking of it, and now I'm a PGCHE'd, FEA'd, full time academic! At somewhere amazing!

Ah, the cold, cold fear mixed with a sense of astonishment!

Right, back to marking.......!

Oh, wow, that's brilliant!

It's lovely hearing stuff like this when so much doom and gloom is in the air about academic jobs. You're bringing hope. Smile
