Weird beliefs about life/the universe you have?

Does anyone else have any weird beliefs about life/the universe that they know are not true/scientifically valid yet can't shake?

I have this belief that time is not linear and that everything is happening "now". I believe 3 year old me was at nursery today, 11 year old me was at school today, 20 year old me was at university today, etc just in some kind of alternate universe. It's a belief I've had for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was around 10 I really believed that I wasn't going to get any older and that the current me would just cycle through this phase of my life/age again. Obviously I know it's not true but it's a belief I can't fully shake and it still clouds my perspective on life. For example, today I walked past my old primary school and admired the blossom trees outside and I wonder if my child self looked up at them and admired them "today", too.

Very interesting. Maybe you have a hidden talent that you haven't discovered yet. You sound very unique, creative and artistic to me. You should write a story/novel or something.

I believe that animals are no different to humans and that we all share the same thoughts and feelings apart from we can express them because we have language. Some animals have more awareness than others depending upon brain power, but that's the same for humans.

I believe that plants, trees etc. have their own type of consciousness and are aware of what's going on around them. I love trees in particular and class them as friends.

Everything on earth is made out of the same materials and we're all interconnected.

Hi op, I have this very same idea/ belief. I don’t think about much these days but i remember having this kind of conversation with friends when I wasn’t my late teens early 20s.

If it's your perception then it is your reality.

There is a current scientific theory about the nature of time being non liner, which then helps to fit the ideas of time travel and multi verses.

That there are infinite number of universes with Earths.

I also believe in Aliens and they are aware of us but choose to hide. For now at least.

We’re all connected. And nothing is actually “real” - ie how I experience things isn’t how they actually are.

I think we're all connected too.
I think we're "spiritual beings having a human experience" and that we choose to forget that when we come here.
I think that spiritual experiences can't be adequately explained because they involve a different dimension, like trying to open an excel document in word.

I think some people and some animals can feel thoughts. If they're very connected to the thinker, or the strength of the thoughts/feelings is very strong.

I think humans can have psychic tendencies and from time to time are given a flash or prediction of the future through dreams/deja vu. Whether this is the brain working overtime or something else providing a guide I don’t know.

I also believe in the old adage of be careful what you wish for.

I think aliens exist - how could we possibly be the only ones floating about in all that space?!

I believe in spirits, and see people who aren't alive anymore out of the corner of my eye. Weirdly enough i was talking to an elderly friend of mine yesterday, and she does the same!
I also believe that Robins were people once.

That the world we see around is is just an 'interface' that we are adapted to understand. That everything is really just a swirl of atoms and binary code, but our perception allows us to see the world in a certain coherent way. With different adaptations to our perception, we would see things entirely differently.

That we are all one consciousness - plants, animals, people.

That the true connection with religion has been largely lost, and that God is the divine spark in everyone, it has nothing to do with organised religion. Back in the distant past people knew this and connected with it through psychedelics. But the church, wanting power, diverted power away from people feeling divinity within themselves.

I took a few psychedelics this year over lockdown...didn't have these views so clearly before, I was a very straight forward atheist! (Still am an atheist in terms of not believing there is a 'father' figure intervening in our lives).

I think babies hold the secrets to the universe but by the time they can speak they forget most of it. Explains why so many children speak about past lives.

I think what we perceive as reality is only a tiny sliver of it. Give a cat a book of algebra. The cat would see the book, perhaps find a use for it like sitting on it, but would have no comprehension that it was a book, that book contained information, and you could use that information for a purpose. We're the cats and the book of algebra is reality, we know something is there, we just don't have the ability to perceive it, let alone understand it.

Interesting. I have out of body experiences and can induce them when I want to. It's a strange ability and one I don't talk about in real life because it's just weird. I believe we are spirits having a human experience. We aren't our thoughts. We are the ones listening to the person having those thoughts and experiences.

When I was a child I had a theory that when we walked, the pavement moved along with the road and the houses, but we stayed still. The logic was much clearer to me back then, it all made sense to me whereas now it doesn't. Weird. Moving on.....

I don't think I really believe it but I like the concept of multiple universes that split off every time anybody ever makes a decision (and if they become too similar they merge back together).

It makes me feel better about making choices because I can imagine an alternative me in an alternative universe is making the other choice so I am not really missing out :o

I like to believe that sometimes someone/something (God, the spirits, angels, I don't know, I don't believe in God so probably spirits or guides of some kind) nudges you to notice something that's significant somehow. So for example when you are having a really crap time and then you unexpectedly see a rainbow, that really is a sign of hope. Or the white feathers thing. It doesn't mean an angel literally dropped them, but an angel could sort of spiritually nudge you on the shoulder when you happened to walk past a pigeon feather or something.

I strongly believe that this is ‘purgatory’ and after death we genuinely move ‘on’. Not to heaven or anything but just to the next level.

I think this is based on dragonflies which are born in water and then when they get older they burst through the surface of the water but can never get back under to tell their friends where they’ve gone.

Also I think people that commit suicide just can’t cope with this stage of purgatory and therefore skip this level to move on to the next one.

Based on this, I’m not scared of death- I’m interested in what it will bring!

MamaWeasel I remember thinking exactly the same thing! I wonder if that is just part of developing prioperception, it must be fairly common.

What are ghosts though? Could it be what OP said that they are actually living their lives and for that split second you see through to that dimension?

A few things.

I believe in the Gaia theory. That the world is a single connected life form.

I believe in ghosts in the sense they exist but do not have agency. They are merely recordings of past people and events that are played back against charged atmosphere, but are probably limited to about 400 or 500 years.

I believe other life can probably see us but we cannot perceive it because we are three dimensional and they are four dimensional, so in the same way that if we were two dimensional, ie flat, we could not comprehend a three dimensional life form because we could not look up at it.
