Someone tell me if my fridge has been put in wrong? Having a nightmare!

We’ve just moved house and had an integrated fridge installed. I can’t work out if the seals actually meet when the door is closed. It sort of makes a noise when it shuts where the cupboard door part hits the unit but how do we know if the seals meet in between? I know I probably sound naive and a complete idiot but im shit with stuff like this as is my housemate!

rub coloured chalk thickly on one side of the seal and see if any transfers to the other side. It probably is closing as otherwise you would see a buildup of ice inside.

Thanks! We just tried what you said and the outer seal marks the inner seal with ketchup when we close it does that mean it’s ok? I’m a bit paranoid about food freshness after lots of food poisoning when younger due to a faulty fridge!!!

get a fridge thermometer and pop it in. If the seal isn't good then it won't get cold enough

What should thermometer say? We have it on setting four inside

You want it at about 3 or 4 I think. Degrees c.

Any room thermometer will work. Like this.

How do they know if the seal works when it’s integrated? The door feels loose but it is pushed against the unit. I know I sound crazy could just do without having to call them out again!

If it stays cold enough then the door is shut properly

Surely you can tell be the feel of opening it? When i open my fridge theres a level of 'pulling' you need to do, more than a cupboard. Are you feeling the fridge open when you open it?

No it doesn’t feel like it’s opening the fridge that’s what’s worrying me, there’s no tug from the seal at all. We’ve not plugged it in yet as were told to wait 24 hours. Just v annoying as the door sort of flops against the unit and you don’t need much more than a tiny nudge to open it.

I think you’re right to question it if you can’t feel a pull.

Is there a sort of thin plastic protector on the seal? Can’t think of the right terminology. Our fridge didn’t seem to stay shut properly when it was first new and this was the problem. It was like a hygiene/security strip.

If it is not plugged in then it won't be cold enough for the seal to work. It's partially the temperature change that creates the seal mechanism.
