'older' movies/tv suggestions for grump bound tween.

My 12yr old is on a week long tech ban. He's dealt with it in fairly good faith so far. But the weekend is here now and I can sence a big grump approaching!
His youger bro is out with Cubs this afternoon and I'd like to hang out with him and watch something a bit more grown up that he would get to watch with his younger bro around.
He's fairly robust and and can get complex stuff. But we normally stick to 12 and or PG and not really ventured to 15 stuff.
Any suggestions please?
We started Stranger Things a while back, but he lost interest. And I MADE him watch Stand by Me a few weeks ago, that he actually really enjoyed. So a shorter series of films maybe? I'm overwhelmed with choice and stumped.

Second Jumanjis, the newish one is great, very funny (and oddly moving in parts).

My 12yr old DS is enjoying Derren Brown. Sort of high brow pranking. Lots on All 4 catch up, from series of 30min episodes to longer specials.

Also done recently Lost in Space series (one of the streaming series), recent Dr Who, all of Monty Python & Ghosts on BBC by the Horrible Histories people. Look on commonsensemedia website for film recommendations: they rate by age from parents' & kids' perspective. Interstellar is next on our list but is 2hrs long!!

Oh! Weekend at Bernies. That went down very well.

I check on common sense media and mild language they hear at school and sexual inference is ok as that usually goes over their heads.

Weekend at Bernies - I think I need to give these a watch first... I imagine they are riddled with sexism? I tend to ruin things for my family, heavily pointing out outdated attitudes etc - kinds ruins it for them

yeah, I check out CSM, but had just hit a wall and need some suggestions.

Some great idea here. He'd love Jaws (suitable for a sturdy 9yr old?). He could defo hack the gore of Saving Private Ryan and has enjoyed the books about war he had read.

I like the idea of doing some british films. We are going to watch Kes together at some point - one of my absolute faves!
