Non essential Travel during covid

We have covid travel insurance. There government line is currently ‘we advise against travel’ but it is not illegal to travel

I’m not talking about Covid and I know it’s legal to travel - I mean more about what if one of you falls down the stairs, is in an RTA etc. I thought most travel insurance won’t pay out if the FCO or equivalent are advising against all but essential travel to your destination? Have you checked the policy wording?

Is there no rebooking option? I don't want to go anywhere at all atm because I can't bear the whole circus, but if you want to go because you'll otherwise lose the booking, seems reasonable.

I have no idea what view the court will take OP, but I'd just let it play out. I realise the rules are a bit stricter in Scotland, but if you are actually allowed to go by the government, then you are allowed to go. The court will follow the law, not someone else's personal preferences. You ARE allowed to travel to Spain, Portugal, France, etc as long as you follow the rules.

Honestly if the roles were reversed how would you feel with him doing the same?

To be clear - you mean going abroad with only essential travel advised by the FCO?

No idea about what will happen in court but your travel insurance would be invalidated, so frankly tbh if I were up ex then I’d be doing what I could to prevent the child going (assuming this wasn’t his first response and he’s actually expressed his wishes to you before trying court).
