Criminal damage on my car, is it worth claiming?

Apparently the police have identified the culprits, it’s all on cctv. They’ve jumped on my bonnet of my fairly new car and dented it.

My neighbour says it’s a no fault claim and I can claim off the uninsured drivers bureau.....but I thought that was only for drivers not criminal damage.

The dents are only cosmetic and I’m not sure it’s worth losing my £300 excess over. But annoying when the car is only a couple of years old. Neighbour says my car will be badly devalued but I’m the sort of person who keeps a car until it’s an old wreck so not sure it matters. Plus my insurance changes to a new company next week so it’ll be a right pita trying to do a claim with a company after I’ve left them.
