Car insurance question - can anyone help?

My car insurance expire on Sunday 13th. I have been driving for 1 year, so as of Sunday 13th, I will have one year of not claiming on the insurance.

I am currently searching for a new policy as most companies are offering cheaper prices than the company I'm with. Can I tell them that I have 1 year of no claims (even though I won't until Sunday) and buy the policy today (to start on Sunday)?

I just want to be crystal clear as I know that if I make a mistake, they may not pay out.

Also, has anyone bought insurance with 1st central? They seem to be the cheapest.

Yes

Of course you can. Your old insurer will send you proof of your No Claims Bonus shortly after your policy ends, which you then send to your new insurer. (Or I think sometimes it can be sent directly?)

Typically you get the cheapest quotes 2-3 weeks before renewal.

Yes, you can indeed

Yes. Absolutely normal.

However, as @safariboot says, for next year, put a note in your diary for 3 or 4 weeks before your insurance is due, as you will be likely to get better prices then, than a day or two before.

Proof of NCB is usually sent with the renewal docs.
