Could this have made her sick?

Saw my mum and sister on Friday as won't feel as safe to do so when I go back to teaching this week. Last night (Saturday) my mum had awful D&V. Prior to that, on Saturday, she went to the opening of a farm shop and ate a whole punnet of unwashed strawberries. Could that have made her sick? Im panicking it was my food or the dreaded noro, although that's not supposed to be contagious until you're ill. We're fine so far and so is my sister.

I'll be honest, I'm looking for some reassurance that we won't get it! I have some pretty awful ongoing gastric problems myself which makes anything like this a very big deal for me. I'm not being selfish though, I feel really bad for my mum! Just wondered if anyone knew if it could be the strawberries.

If she was eating things without washing them or her hands at a farm, she was asking for trouble to be honest!

I doubt anyone who didn't do what she did, or has had a peaceful 24 hours, will be fine.

Thank you. I hate being so anxious about this stuff.

A whole punnet of strawberries could give you an osmotic diarrhoea, so no bacteria even involved!

Food makes you sick within 6-12 hours I think so the strawberries or something else she ate on Sat seems a likely suspect. Not food from Friday for sure.

Equally she could have picked up noro, but then as you were with her before she was ill shouldn’t have passed to you.

Totally understand your anxiety. My anxiety often manifests as a bit of a dodgy tummy which is esp. unhelpful when you’re worrying about d&v!

I guess we'll know soon enough - my dad isn't ill at this point so everything crossed.
