Do you think your iPhone step counter is correct?

I thought mine was far too high, but Google says it's more likely to underestimate it. Yesterday was 20k!

I do have 2 phones with the same Apple ID (DD using one as an ipod) and was wondering if it's managing to confuse itself and duplicate things?

Absolutely not accurate, mine massively underestimates how far I've walked!

For 20k steps that’s about 8-10 miles of walking at least. Do you think you travelled that far?

I can do the same walk as my husband and our steps can be 2-3k different on our I phones!

No, it's not. It says I walked 153 steps today!

Mine underestimates. I know this because as a very sad person on a walk to the park (about forty minutes) I counted my steps. My fitbit isn’t perfect but far more accurate.

I’m not sure about the step-counter, but the associated distance tracker is way off. If I compare it with Strava, my iPhone will definitely tell me I’ve done 12-13 miles in a 10 mile run.

During lockdown DH and me would go on walks together. Our iphones always said we did different amount of steps and distances.
One walk DH had both phones in his pockets. They couldn’t agree on the amount of steps he’d taken or the distance that he walked.
So no I don’t think any iphone step counter is correct.

I ran 5k and definitely walked 10k. I haven't a clue where the other 5 came from.

Oh hang on, I'm confusing myself.

I ran 5k distance.

I walked 10k STEPS.

No wonder I never did well in Maths.

Looking at the hourly tracker though, there's definitely 4k steps at 6pm which I haven't a clue about.

I don't think the IPhone or the Fitbit for that matter can be that accurate tbh. The two don't match when I've been out for a walk and as for the Fitbit, according to that, I've been known to walk over 5,000 steps whilst sitting on the sofa crocheting! Grin

Same as NellWilson my iPhone usually adds at least another mile on to my run compared to my Garmin

I don’t understand how it could possibly have a clue unless it’s in your pocket or your hand? Mine reckons I climbed 4 flights on Monday and I’m fairly sure I sat on my arse all day!!!
