What do you do with your home video?

I was at my parents' house today and my dad has transferred all our old VHS home video onto DVD and memory stick in a compliation, we had a great laugh watching it back (and I can't believe he used to lug that huge thing with us on holidays).
It got me thinking, I've got hours of footage of the kids, some in MP3 format on a little video camera I had when DC1 was born 8 years ago, and then gradually more on my phone and some on a go-pro, but aside from occasionally watching it on "on this day" reminders it's not being treasured or collated.
I'm trying to imagine how my kids will watch it back as adults. Who knows what the tech will be like then?!
In the meantime, I'm thinking of bringing it all together somehow - is there some easy (preferably free) software to do this that anyone can recommend, so I can make some DVDs or a memory stick?

Have you tried saving the videos and pictures to Google Drive? You get 15GB of free storage. However, if you use it all up, you have the choice to either delete videos or buy more storage. Storing them on USB drives will probably be more relevant than storing them on DVDs since a lot of modern gaming consoles and tech have no DVD player. You can also start a media server if you have a computer. The downside of a media server is that you need to boot up the computer every time you want to view it on another device (console, tablet, etc,). Feel free to google how to set one up if you are interested.
