She's lovely 'head-with-the-fairies' single (not by choice) and late 20s. Likes art, music, fashion (Urban Outfiters and Mango), travel and movies.

She's had a tough year but has been there for me whenever I've needed her. I'm looking for usual and unusual thinks to put in there to cheer her up but am completely stuck.

I can't think of anything apart from bath soaps, face masks and candles.

Forgot to say that she means a lot to me and I would really like to make her feel special.

Any ideas? PLEASE?

Green & Blacks Maya Gold chocolate. And/or Green & Black's Hot Chocolate - and some good movies, and marshmallows, and a box of tissues!

You sound like a lovely, thoughful friend. How about tickets to a museum exhibition/s - like the biggies at the British Musuem or V&A (or more locally if you're not near London)?

If you can't buy them in advance, you could design and print out a voucher for them - and if you could commit to going with her that would be a lovely day out for you both to look forward to.

OMG I've been lurking and more recently posting on MN for ages (name changed in case she recognises me!) and always felt this is a great and really supportive site but didn't expect such great and prompt responses!

Thank you all so much. Loads of great ideas

if it was me I'd love a bathtime pamper hamper -

nice bubble bath/soap
Hairband (hate my hair getting wet in bath
nice body lotion for after
nail polish (to do my toes)
Good book
Magazine (love reading in bath)
some nice candles
New pj's
New slippers
Bath pillow

Ooooo I'd love that may just print this thread and leave it laying around for DH (can't wait till my dd's are old enough to take hints but at 5 and 2 I'd end up with peppa pig bath foam and barbie magazine!)

I wish you were my friend JA! I love my fluffy bed socks someone brought me last year, and think this book may suit some people (only available in hardback at the mo) here
Think the Green & Blacks chocolate is a good idea too. Paperchase do nice Travel Journals is she is the sort to keep momentoes from trips? Finally I think this frame with a map in it is a brilliant idea - and very easy to copy at home with a map and an ikea photo frame!!!:
map heart

How about a girlie/classic dvd:

Breakfast at Tiffanys
Dirty dancing
Sleepless in Seattle
Bodyguard
Devil wears Prada (nearly typed Primark then!)

Play.com has most of these and free p&p.

or,

Cashmere socks
Scarf
Voucher for pedicure/manicure/massage
Photo album made up with photos of people close to her.

How about something a little different - bit.ly/6eOJ7n - There are loads of great ideas in our Christmas catalogue and I'm sure you'll be able to find something for her that she'll really appreciate. Send a Cow :-)

Thanks everyone!

Have ordered the La Senza pjs and the wonderful weekend book. Will add a play.com membership, some good chocolate and 'beat the bugs' (thanks send a cow!).

Was very tempted to do the exhibition tickets but don't want her to feel like she should go with me.
