How much do you spend on Christmas

I spend about £300 per child. I put money away every month specifically for Christmas and I start shopping, or at least start planning, in August/September.

About £100 for each of the 2 dc including stockings, about £75 for dh and about £30 each for my parents, sister, BIL and their 2dc. Dh's family tend to spend a bit less, so he probably spends about £20-£25 on the 4 people he buys for. We don't save specifically for Christmas and don't set an overall budget. Occasionally we spend more on the dc, e.g. if a laptop etc is needed.

Christmas 2020 the spend was approx £2000. We didn’t have any family round though. We normally have parties and meals during December and can spend approx £3,000 - £4000 on a normal year.

I budget for around £1k, we spent around £800 this year.
I wouldn't bother with park though, I'd rather have a savings account that I could control.

I'm not sure what I spend as it's done bit by bit through the year. I should tally it up!

I save my Nectar points for double up in November and general ingredients / food shopping as well, so although my shopping is a few quid dearer each week than if I went to Aldi, I get about £30 of points per month, which more than balances out, especially when double up is factored into it.

I probably spend £500-600 in total, chipped away at through the year. I couldn't do it in one hit. I save monthly onto a Sainsbury's gift card, which helps take the strain off too. My new employer has a discount scheme, so my £20 top up costs £19 each month. Every saving helps!

I have never used Park or similar but used to be able to see the merits until a friend lost all her Christmas money to one that went bust about ten years ago. She is very good at managing money but dreadful at saving, so she transfers her Christmas to a friend who saves it for her.

I shouldn’t have added it up, about £1500 on presents this year but that is 11 adults and 8 children (all immediate family so my own plus sisters/brothers/nephews/nieces. That’s a lot for me, 2yrs ago it was half that but I started early this year out of Covid boredom! Then maybe another £150 on food/drink etc. No trips this year and nothing new on decorations

We normally spend around £250 on each of our children. This Christmas we did spend more as we hadn't been on holiday etc
