Retro hand held console games

Hoping someone can help - DS has asked for an ‘old fashioned’ hand held console game. There are loads about but I think the quality will vary - does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

I bought one from Amazon some years ago. It was a hit and ds still sometimes plays with it. His was called rs-1 but I just ordered random one.

I got one a couple of years ago, pre-loaded with old Sega games, it was crap.

Instead, get an actual old Game Boy/Game Boy advance on eBay, so much better.

The Nintendo Super Mario Game and Watch has been re-released for Mario’s 35th anniversary. Could that be what he was thinking of? My own DS has asked for it - it’s still in the box so I can’t comment on it as yet, but my sister had an original back in the 80s and we loved it.

The game and watch or tiger electronics have released replicas of some of their old handheld games. I've bought the sonic and transformers ones and also ordered the little mermaid one (I had this in the 90s) from U.S as it wasn't available here back in September.

I got my partner a mini master system last year. It's an official Sega one. It's got loads of games on. You can save games unlike the oldies! But you need it as retro games are quite a lot harder than modern ones.

@Blogdog I saw that and wow such great memories of my childhood!
But that ones a bit expensive for what I was looking for - it’s more for a stocking filler really.
Might get that for myself one day!

@mammmamia if it's for a stocking filler I would go with the tiger electronics handheld sonic game it's a 90s replica and around £15
