Non alcoholic Christmas cake

I used to have a recipe for alcohol free cake. I lost it a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I used make in September/October Does anyone have a recipe that still tastes moist without being fed booze?

Apparently you can feed a Christmas cake with brewed tea instead of alcohol. Perhaps something flavourful - like an Earl Grey or Lady Grey would be good?

My dear old great-aunt used to feed her cake cold black tea. I can’t say what it tasted like because I was too young to appreciate fruit cake.

Has anyone tried the tea method! What does it taste like? I was wondering if I could try fresh orange juice.

We always do the tea method as I don't drink alcohol, I use this recipe every year. I use normal English breakfast tea and I have never had complaints about lack of alcohol!

I’m just guessing here that tea might be used because it uses boiled water, which would eliminate bacteria. I’m not sure orange juice would be safe to feed the cake over a long period? But maybe you could substitute oj for alcohol in the baking phase and in the final feeding the day before serving it?
I’d be cautious about how long a cake would last on tea. The alcohol acts as a preservative.

I've always used tea cold and generally make my cake in September/October and it keeps quite well. Although hot tea may make it last longer?
