Christmas

What do you want from your DH / DP for Christmas?

DH wants to know what I want. Not sure why he can't think of anything himself Grin
Budget is fairly flexible, I would say max £100 ish.

There's nothing specific I want, but I consider myself fairly easily pleased and love most of the gifts that lots of people on here moan about receiving (toiletries, chocolate, scented candles etc). I don't tend to buy myself treats like these so love receiving them.

To inspire me, what are you hoping for?

Do you want me to be honest? I'm honestly very quietly (e.g. nobody else knows!) asking both dh and my parents to donate the cost of a homeless persons stay at Crisis at Christmas. At just under £30, they provide a home for a few days, food, fresh clothes, haircuts, pressies etc
I'm not wealthy but comfortable and while there are many things I might want, there is nothing I really need. I'm lucky at Christmas, I have a lovely home, wonderful dc and plenty to eat and drink - that's enough for me.
If my post sounds 'preachy' then I'm sorry but until someone like me wrote on here about the amazing Crisis appeal, I had no idea it could be done so easily. I just want to spread the word!

I would love a black leather tote with silver hardware with no big logos. We shall see.

I want some posh colouring pens that are a ridiculous £2.50 each, a rack to put them in and a trolley to put the rack on.
Probably not what anyone else wants :)
Is also like the usual nice socks, scented candles etc. I’ve asked him for a drip coffee thingy and some coffee to go with it and a travel coffee mug. I will be very happy if I get all of this :)

daydreamnation that's lovely.
My Dad always asks that people donate to charity instead of getting him Birthday gifts etc. He is by no means rich, but has a home to live in, food to eat and a pile of books to read and is happy with that.

I’m also hoping for a bag for work. We will probably choose it together though as I’m fussy. We often don’t really buy things for each other but this year we both have some things we need, so we are going to treat each other to nice versions of those.

I find it hard to get my head around Christmas op, I absolutely love it but struggle with the thought that so many are suffering while I have such a lovely time.
Crisis at Christmas is truly amazing, I volunteered there pre dc and the services available to guests are just heart warming.

I often ask for a 'luxury' version of something I normally buy cheaply - slippers this year, I've asked for ugg ones.

Last year all the adults in our family purchased each other a kipbag (www.kipbag.com). It's a bag for a homeless person with sleeping bag, washkit, plasters, wetwipes etc in it. Have a Google - it's a charity and the workers are unpaid (volunteers). Great cause. I don't work for them, but it was set up by a friend of a friend. They cost £15 each and as we usually spend £20 on each other (Christmas is all about the kids, right?!) it seemed like a good plan.

Thanks for the kipbag idea - just donated one and will donate again when I'm able. I think its a great idea!

I've asked for

A scented candle
A cat calendar Grin
A couple of dvds of plays I didn't get to see, Hamlet and Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch ( found a site that sells them and also old tv series you can't get elsewhere, so I'm going to have a good peruse and may add more to the list!)

Kindle? Dh got me one after first baby for breastfeeding and upgraded it to the one with a light last year when it broke, although we don’t often do big presents. I love it so much.

We often do want, need, wear, read for each other in a stocking.

I like getting real books for Christmas as use library most of the year.

This year I would like a big cardigan/coat thing from Zara that is more expensive than I would buy for myself, and as I have been very cold so far this winter!

I like getting a new mug. Got a scrabble one last year.

I would like the new Killers album and a new lipstick.

One year he got me a mini speaker I could sync to my phone and listen to my music anywhere, I’ve used that a lot and it wasn’t expensive.

I will look up kipbags thanks to this thread. We have made up a box for the local women’s refuge and one for the food bank this Christmas. We always set aside some money for that.

I’m getting the Tiffany perfume, earrings and pyjamas from dh.
Naked basics pallete, top shop Joni jeans and posh bath bubbles from others. Me and my Mum do each other a stocking of little treats which is actually the thing I love the most.

I've asked for a few books and possibly a record, but I asked for them a while ago, so can't remember what they were. I do an email list months in advance so that it still feels like a surprise. DH has form for really hopeless presents at times, so it works for us 🎄
