Stuck for ideas for dd10 and ds12. Can anyone point me towards a cheap but reasonable iPad/ laptop? Don’t mind reconditioned etc. Would need 2, and to be suitable for WiFi, internet, homework and fun stuff. Not sure if this is possible in a small budget...

The iPad is sort of the gold standard, but pricey. I have one and an Amazon Kindle Fire that's much more affordable and perfectly good for web surfing and watching videos. The Kindle Paperwhites are really just for book reading.

Kindle Store

To do homework, they'll eventually need something with a keyboard.

Also look on Dell outlet - they have stuff in all budgets but sometimes you have to keep checking as stock varies. Also go on chat with them and you sometimes get a discount code - they can also tell you when new stuff is added as there is a schedule that I can't remember. I've bought laptops for my boys from there and also a couple of desktops.

happy to help with specs etc too. stuff all comes looking immaculate and boxed.

Wait until Black Friday- I got great deals on iPad minis last year and they’ve been well worth it. Try all the retailers- John Lewis will price match too. Tesco were the best last year if I remember rightly.

NO fixed budget, but as little as possible! 4dc so spending here means cutbacks elsewhere present wise. Help with specs really appreciated

Does your DS or DD expect to be able to use it for gaming? and I mean proper gaming not stuff like candy crush etc. :)

Probably not. Ds has a PS4 so that covers that. More apps/ internet/ YouTube.

And homework (my expectation, not theirs!)

They’ve got reconditioned iPads on groupon for around £120

Look good. Do they need cellular or just WiFi? Any idea if 16gb is enough or if they need more? Don’t want to get it wrong!

16 GB is enough unless you want to store lots of photos or even worse, downloaded videos on the iPad.

I have a 10 inch Lenovo, which is great and not iPad expensive. My son has a Samsung tablet, more expensive but very good with a great docking pad.

That’s good. How much was it in the end? I was tempted but my little one is only just 5 and has not got much experience with technology so I think I’m going to go with the amazon fire kids mainly for the 2 year replace guarantee

Got it for £189! She will be over the moon as I’ve made it clear I can’t afford one!
