My DS is 6 next week, we have got him a new bag for school, a couple of minecraft figures, a science experiment kit, a new book to read for bedtime and a couple of tops. We are also going to be doing up his bedroom which he is quite excited about (New bed & wardrobe) Grandparents are getting him new football kit.

I picked up yesterday at Sainsbury’s half price toy sale a remote control digger (they had cars as well) which we will give him for Christmas.

Football goal for garden went down well last year.

My DN's bday is in January too, and instead of getting her any more toys (she gets enough at Christmas!) we get her tickets to the pantomime. She's getting a bit too old for it now, so might buy her a zoo keeper experience instead.

DS is 6.8. I haven't started buying yet but some of my ideas are:

Football strip
Magnetic football league
Kapla Lowdoor is this any good???
Walkie-talkies to share with 4 year old DD
Giant Jenga for the garden
Minecraft for the PS4
Origami pad
Books
Story CDs from bookpeople
Lego torch/Lego watch
Labyrinth game

He doesn't really play with toys much, just spends most of his time making up games with his sister so I'm finding it quite hard to come up with ideas.

DS will be 6yo in November. Apart from a new bike (like your ds!) he'll be getting:

CD player for his audio books.
Playmobil campervan.
Spongebob boardgame (he's a Spongebob addict).
Wooden train whistle.
Where's Wally
Marble run (my house is full of cardboard loo rolls sellotaped together to make marble runs!)
Map of the world for his wall, framed (from Tiger).
LED lights for his bedroom.
Wooden paint your own dinosaur.
Jigsaws.

Then things like stickers with his name on, random Playmobil figures from flea markets, character pants. I'd like to get another boardgame - any suggestions welcome! He LOVES Pigs in Pants, by the Orchard company.

The children in my y2 class all squabble over jigsaw puzzles at the moment, so I'd go old school and say a jigsaw puzzle!

Logoplanter we got DS good walkie talkies last year - HUGE hut, have been played with all year. We have a dog, so plenty of opportunity in the woods. And we have lots of picnics with friends with dc and they use them together, heaps of fun! They are Motorola TLKR and we got them on black Friday on Amazon for about €15.

My 6yo dd is getting:

Spy stuff (including walkie talkies and a bedroom alarm)
Nerf gun
Magic set
Y scooter

I think they'd be of as much interest to a boy.

Someone talk to me about hex bugs... they seem cool and 6yo ds would have great fun with it. What's a good starter kit? What do you need?
