Bar small chocolates, what do you put in them?

We have a wooden train with compartments for each day - this year it'll be Pokemon figures and shopkins I suspect.

In the past we've done football cards (propped up outside it), erasers, make up little bits, Lego figures, play mobile people

In the local Christmas shop that's just opened, they have a lovely little wooden tree with different decorations you can hang on it, so I've bought one and will put a decoration or bell in each day with a little chocolate, so the DC can slowly decorate the tree.

I have done quite a few similar things previous years. But dcs are now older (11 and 13yo) still love the idea of the advent calendar but I doubt any of them will be impressed with Pokemon figures etc...

We put the characters from the nativity scene in it so they build the scene up during advent. Also some days they will get a little card with a fun activity we're doing that day on it (e.g. make a gingerbread house, go and see some xmas lights etc). The rest of the days we fill up with chocolates.

DH has a gin advent calendar.... but I guess that would be a calendar for you or DH, not for DC.

Lol.
Yes I'm not sure gin would be a good idea yet Grin

For DH a few years ago I left little notes like "this entitles you to control of the TV for the evening / picking the film at the cinema / a lift / a lift home." We had no money that year and it went down well. Could you maybe adapt something like that to fit them?
