What time do you get up at on Christmas morning?

Usually 8am here.

As a child it was around 2am, then back to bed and we'd all sleep til late.

My parents had barely gone to bed when I'd wake them up! My sisters, once they'd hit their teens, wanted to sleep until 7/8am but I refused and demanded we carry on the 2am tradition. And as the baby of the family (plus my mum was just as happy as me to get up early!) we stuck to doing it my way.

Sorry siblings. Xmas Blush

I think my mum thinks I'm terrible for making mine wait until 8am! Grin. They do sleep until then, I don't make them wait if they've woken earlier.

So, how does it work in your house?

Our kids love sleep but when DS was younger the earliest was 7am. Now its around 8.30/9am, although last year we had to wake DD (4) at 9.15 as her siblings were desperate!!!

A couple of years ago FS woke up his younger sisters at 9am!

There are advantages to late nights.

Mine are awake and demanding attention by about 6.30 latest every morning so I can't see it being different on Christmas day.

As kids Dad issued a very strict 7am rule! We'd all be whispering and giggling in the room next door waiting for the exact second we could burst in to their room.

Then Dad would have to go in to the living room first to check Santa had arrived turn on the Christmas.

Ours usually come through about 6-6:30 with their stockings (which Santa leaves on their bedroom door handles). That usually gives us another hour in bed.

Nowadays, DC are 21 and 18, I'm up at 6/6.30. Stuff the turkey and prepare it, peel spuds and prep veg, set table for a late lunch. Make a large platter of smoked salmon triangles. Wake up the masses at about 8 for tea, biscuits, stollen and church. If they want a loft they have to be ready to leave by 8.50 because I usually sides on Christmas day.

5am like usual since we have 400 cows to milk either end of the day just like the rest of the year!! As a child I used to get up around 7am to go and sort the horses out before coming home to open presents etc around 10am.

We've nothing to get up early for, so sometime between 10 and 11am (including the kids).

5am due to a DS who does not sleep. Usual day for us. This is strangely easier to contemplate as I am grateful I do not have 400 cows to milk Grin

Tellmestraight That sounds like Christmas morning in my house growing up! My dad would tell us 7am, and we would be giggling in our room from 5.30/6am onwards. I remember one year my sister and I playing Frustration and Jr Monopoly to pass the time! Sometimes we'd chance it by going to wake our parents at 6.30. My mum was the one to go and check to see if Santa had been (and turn on the Christmas Wink).

We've been up by 7 since DS was born, mostly because he got up then anyway! He'll be almost 4 this year and I reckon he'll be up by 6am because that's when he's usually up. But this year will be the first year he'll know to be excited in advance, rather than being excited when told on the day that it's Christmas. I can't wait Xmas Grin.

We do stockings in bed, then through for presents once one of us has checked to see if Santa has been. Then breakfast, showers etc while DC play and we take turns sorting the flat for my parents and siblings coming over for brunch/cake at 11.

If I've got DD we ten to stay at my parent. She and I get up whenever DD gets up we do her stocking which always has a "Christmas Outfit" then bath and dressed.
My mum is up earlier with the Christmas music on prepping dinner. Bacon sarnies are cooked then I go and turn on the Christmas. And we eat our sarnies whilst opening presents.

DS normally wakes around 7ish, so around then. I try to get up ahead of him, switch on the christmas lights and feed the dogs, so they aren't barking when DS gets up.

DD would probably sleep late (teen) but I like some time to ourselves before my Mother descends (we go to ex MILs for lunch so time at home is precious) so I'll probably wake her by 8am. Me and the dog will go down to switch on Christmas and stick the kettle on (and put the ready made cinnamon rolls in the oven).

Don't know what time they got up at, but when husband was a youngster, they had to wait until after the Queen's speech to open their presents. Thankfully, we did not carry on his family tradition.

When we were kids we used to wake at about 3 am and badger our parents to get up until they eventually relented at 4am, every year without fail.
Apart from the year when I was about 15 and my parents did the Usual 4am with 11 year old db and left me sleeping. I came down at 10.30 am to find mum and dad back in bed, db curled up in a ball on the floor, sound asleep surrounded by discarded wrapping paper and the turkey cooking in the oven.... I opened my presents alone!

Feck even the dog was asleep!!!!😀

Since having our own dcs we haven't been up before 8am, they liked to sleep and still do (teens and adults now)
We've had Several times over the years where dh and I have got impatient waiting for them to wake and have had to wake them at about 9am

ClashCityRocker · 17/10/2016 19:38

As a kid I'd usually gone to bed about 6pm the previous evening 'to make tomorrow come quicker'.

Up about 4am to open stockings with my brother.

In to my parents at 7am.

As an adult with no dcs I go to bed at 9pm to make tomorrow come quicker and wake up about five, nudge dh awake, get told off and doze or read a Christmassy book until seven when we go downstairs.
