Book(s) for 14 yo boy

Loking for a book or set for my 14 year old nephew. Likes Sci-Fi and action/aventure mostly, he has read a lot of the popular books such as Hunger games, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, most of the Doctor Who books etc, currently like Alex Rider.

I was possibly considering something by Terry Pratchett, but I haven't read any myself (on my to read list) so unsure if they are suitable or where to start. Any other suggestions.

Different genre entirely but DS is the same sort of age and loves biographies as well as fact books like QI. He's a football nut so I've got him some of the managers' autobiographies and the latest Secret Footballer.

A big hit with teens that age in my house was Half Bad.

An even bigger hit but quite a bit more grown up so maybe for next year or the one after was Ready Player One.

13 y/o DD wants the new Rick Riordan book (Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer) - so if he likes Percy Jackson that might be worth a look.

Check out The Lorien Legacies, by 'Pittacus Lore' (pen name for a collection of ghost writers). The first book in the series is called 'I Am Number Four'. Had my two (also fans of Maze Runner, Hunger Games, Divergent and any other dystopian YA fiction they can get their mitts on) gripped.

DS1, aged 13 likes the Andy McNab Boy Soldier series and Robert Muchamore's Cherub series (these deal with quite gritty subjects though)

I recently read The Martian (have yet to see the film but had Matt Damon in my mind whilst reading it!)

It is a fantastic read and there's nothing in it that would make it unsuitable for a child that age. It's gripping from the very start, easy to read and so interesting. There's a bit of chemistry & physics but even if he can't get his head round it he will still easily follow the story - and he may even learn something!

When my DS is that age I'll definitely be giving it to him to read and I know he'll love it
