I fill their stockings with all sorts of shite they like. Their favourite cereal, pot noodles, tins of anchovies, cans of pop and favourite drinks, the obligatory toiletries, underwear, novelty items, all sorts of shite...plus the traditional Terry's chocolate orange! Proper presents go under the tree.
(They really like noodles and anchovies btw, I wouldn't put them in there otherwise!!).
My kids love their stockings even though I don't spend much on them.

Posh (Ish) wet shave kit for one, electric shaver for the other.
Stockings are for things like chocolates, post it notes, beer, pretzels, bits and bobs, really. Novelty sock a and boxers...
Probably money, as they buy computer parts and other specialist stuff.

My friends' kids like annual cinema tickets... My boys are not sociable enough to use them!

TheWoollybacksWife Sat 03-Oct-15 22:13:51

Stockings always follow the same theme:

Christmas/Winter design socks
New undies (bra/pants set)
Chocolate orange
Chocolate coins
A book
Make up (foundation/mascara/eyeliner)
Something glittery/novelty - last year it was clock keyrings
Body Shop body butter
iTunes card

Not sure about main presents yet

Mine are into Sherlock and Dr Who which has made presents very easy this year. They are getting a respective hoody each. There are some nice university style ones on Amazon. Sherlock and Dr Who

Then there's Dr Who Monopoly and the Sherlock Top Trumps collector's set.

Qwertee had some lovely Dr Who t-shirts the other day which I got for their stockings (but available for one day only) but worth looking at every day to see if there's anything suitable for your DC.

Bucky balls from Aliexpress would be good for a stocking filler (they're small magnetic balls and are very addictive). DS likes egg sandwiches so he will have an egg cuber in his.

And they both have a cake in a mug or a muffin in a mug from Lakeland.

I'm not thinking about this yet, except I have and told my dc I wasn't doing stockings this year owing to the lack of interest in them last year sad but your links chicaguapa are great. I might yet relent...

In the past, I have bought things like a dvd, underwear/socks, shower gel, chocolate, other food items eg those yard long tubes of biscuits, calendars, books.

Main presents? No ideas. DD wants an iphone6 (yeah right!) and the dses want nothing.

70isaLimitNotaTarget Sat 03-Oct-15 22:49:20

I have DD (will be 13.6) and DS (will be 16)

DS has a December birthday so I'll be wracking my brains twice,

He won't want a party. I will suggest he invites a group of mates to the cinema+pizza (I'll pay but won't interlope) so he might agree to that.

But he likes to save. So very little that he'll ask for present wise.

He'll get Young driver Lessons
If I can organise it, Rifle Shooting
Lynx (of course)
Couple of XBox games that will come out in November, so that'll be an early one.
Microsoft Points
New £50 note in a ribbon , in a nice gift box.

He has mock exams in December so I don't think he's thinking about Christmas so much.

DD (potentially much easier)

Clothes, make-up, bathroom smellies, earrings. Exactly what , I don't know yet. No doubt she'll point out what she wants.

We still do the Christmas Eve Hampers (PJs,jar of sweets, Annual, bath bombs, some nice pens like Steadler, puzzlebook)

Stockings include - underwear, socks, toilettries, earrings for DD, Lindt chocolate bears or reindeer.
Selection box
Small travel sized face products.

We save £2 coins in a tin to split 4 ways. The only rule is it must be spent. (Last year we got £280)

We take them out one evening before Christmas, late night shopping.
Have some food and a wander round to buy last minute things.
DS always wants to save his money, so this year we might abandin that tradition and buy gin just put it in his bank account.
DD has already spent her share on jeans <<tsk>>

MARGUERITE18 Sun 04-Oct-15 09:26:56

DD 17 has asked for
Water bottles
new bag
necklace - sterling silver handstamped from etsy
bedroom accessories
lush moisturiser
collectors dolls house furniture
charlie chaplin movie boxset
3 recipe books
almond and coconut butter
Disney Tsum Tsums
Shoes £39

Stompylongnose Sun 04-Oct-15 09:41:26

My local B&M and WHSmith sell American sweets. My teen loves trying them.

Sadik Sun 04-Oct-15 09:50:58

So far on my list for dd (13) I have a set of multi coloured sharpie pens and a new dressing gown. Inspiration gratefully received!

Last year big hits were a gamer style beanbag chair and Harry potter/hunger games crossover hoodie

SortedForCheeseAndFizz Sun 04-Oct-15 09:52:20

Ooh good thread op thank you! I have three teens, and it's getting tricky, esp as their birthdays are all in the couple of months before Christmas confused.

One idea I've had is a wall decal for their rooms. Maybe some big cushions for the bed.

The girls liked nail art pens one year.

AnyoneButAndre Sun 04-Oct-15 09:57:50

DD (13)
Sewing lessons
New Rick Riordan book
Google Play voucher to buy apps and music
Pitch Perfect 2 DVD in stocking
Nail art stuff
Zatchel

Noeuf Sun 04-Oct-15 10:09:34

Dd 16 - TK Maxx is brilliant for stocking fillers in the make up and headphone type sections.
A book - facebook status history of the world (humour)
Xmas jumper (Primark)
Sweets
Something from MAC
Something from paper chase

Main present will be Birchbox subscription or tickets to Derren Brown

Oh god - see you at the Dan and Phil tour maybe. They have a book out. And DD has a Dan and Phil branded cat whisker necklace.

OMG she has got it bad. I didn't cough up for the VIP tickets, because I'm the meanest mum in the world. Having been to a YouTube gamers' festival, the "VIP access" thing is increasingly freaking me out. There's something so weird and brazen about the way these young youtubers are monetising themselves, with parents pressured into buying pieces of them on behalf of their children. DD is trying to save up all her pocket money for a slot on one of her favourite gamers' shows. I'm honestly not sure what to think.
