Does your child change their mind about what they want every couple of days?

Dd2 has ASD so doesn't really understand that once she has written her list that is it. She loves music and guitars so I kept asking her if she would like an electric guitar, she said 'no' ( I asked her 100 times ), she wrote her list which included lego, sylvanian families and a few other buts, I have done the shopping and it's all wrapped up and today she asks for a bass guitar ( one that you build ) . She won't be getting one so will probably be a little disappointed, I keep telling myself 'it will be fine as she will get a lego set and lots of other nice things', just frustrates me that she changes her mind every few days.

Remind me next year not to buy her presents until Christmas Eve when she may have finally made her mind up .

I think it is quite common with young children.

DD is 16 now, but when she was younger I used to delay buying her main present until the last possible minute!

Sadly, Santa's elves need time to make the gifts, so often the poor elves can't make the newly thought-of gift in time for this year. My DD has had that explained to her, and it seems better than disappointment on The Day. She'll probably have changed her mind again by the time Christmas day rolls around, and will be dazzled by other gifts anyway.

The elves aren't great with making technology either, so best not to ask for anything along those lines.

Wish dd would understand that but her understanding of things that are not real is quite poor, I'm not even sure if she believes , she just tells me what she wants when she finds something on her iPad, she is totally obsessed with rock music and guitars but when ever I mention buying her a guitar she says 'no' ( up until today ). She has her birthday in March but we don't really spend much for birthdays, if she wants a guitar she will have to save up ( or pinch one of her grandads guitars ). I'm sure she will still be happy with what we have got her.

Dd has her absolute heart set on 3 things all under £10 and will not budge at all even when she sees something she thinks is fab, dd2 changes her mind more often than her socks, but she is only 2 and has no idea about Christmas yet. She will be delighted with her gifts, even though she has not asked for any of it, and won't be getting the wall that she asked Santa for! I'm sure your dd will love what you've got her and not be at all disappointed

I've told dd her letter is only to give santa a few ideas, its not an order form. She very rarely gets anything off her list.
