Unusual toys that have been popular?

I wondered if anyone had any toys that were perhaps a bit different to Lego / playmobil / character toys / brio but that had been popular with your dc.

That drill one looks brilliant

2yo dd1 gets a lot of use out of a set of plastic magnetic shapes that she makes pictures from on a metal board. Not sure where they're from as they were a charity shop find.

7mo dd2 much prefers a silicon pastry brush and a plug on a chain to any of the gazillion toys in the house.

Wow Toys Sadly it's been pinkified, but it's lasted years.

They now make lots of other stuff that looks equally good.

They also loved Fischer Technik - I still have a huge crate of it somewhere - maybe should dig it out and flog it.

My soon to be seven year old son got a tub of Jaw Bones last year and they have been a surprise hit. I got a fairly small tub as I was half expecting them to end up just scattered all over the floor and then trodden on ignored, but he loves them, and my 9 and 11 year olds (DS and DD) have been known to have a play with them too.
I got them on Amazon this time last year - they were available from other places but Amazon were the cheapest, especially since they were delivered, and I am planning on getting him a bigger set this year to go with last year's.
He has actually liked them enough to look after them and keep them in their tub and played with them loads so they have turned out to be great value (taken as spend per play so to speak)

Ooh I like the look of the jaw bones - had never heard of them before!

Yes the drill toy is brilliant! Hours and hours my son has played with that, taking them in and out. It is strangely addictive, I've been known to play with it too!
