How many lights on a 6 1/2ft tree?

Previously we've had a pre-lit artificial tree, this year a real one.

How many lights do you think for a tree between 6 and 6 1/2ft?

Lots.

[helpful]

I think my 5ft one has either 80 or 100.

I've got 100 on a 5ft tree and was just thinking it looked a bit sparse so I'd get more than that.

If you get an extension thing you can switch them all off at the plug at the same time anyway.

I have 4 sets on a 7 foot tree, which seems ok. I don't know how many are on each set though and I'm not counting.

our 7ft tree originally had 240 but looked sparse so we got another 240 looks much better now. previously we'd had a pre lit tree so wasn't expecting to need so many lights this year!

I use little mirror balls and other mirrored decorations to reflect the lights so they look like more.

I think my set is 200 and we have a 6 foot real tree

Ok a wide range there.

Will start with 400 and see what that's like.

Is there a thing as too many lights?

240 on a 6ft but they are the little ones. Not enough. Will get another set for next year of around 150.

We have 614 traditional fairy lights on our tree. Once tried the LED version but not big enough for us.

Tesco are selling 100 lights for £4.70 I have one spare set as replacement bulbs

def go as many as you can - we've got 480 on ours and it's still not enough for me! I'd love to have 1000 on ours!

We have 400 - but soft glow - not superbright white LED ones - would give me a migraine....

DoubleMum · 09/12/2012 09:54

It depends if they are LED ones I think as they are smaller and closer together. We have 360 LED on a 7 ft tree and definitely wouldn't want any more.

I'm going for warm white ones I think.

The tree arrived today and is REALLY bushy, much bigger than I imagined. (Our artificial one was 6ft but this one looks much taller)

I don't think 400 lights is gonna cut it tbh. Think I'll start at 600 and go from there.

Thanks for all the replies though Xmas Grin
