Innotabs are they any good?

Thinking of getting ones for DD (2.6), DS (3.7) and DSD (5.6) but I don't want to waste money if they aren't as good as they look!

Are books and games for them expensive?

I have looked at them but think games are expensive, have looked at android ones and found one called a Nabi2 that I think looks really good.

I was looking at Innotab but have finally gone for leappad 2 for DD who will be 3.0. It's difficult to know what's best!

We're thinking of getting the Leappad 2 for dd1 Wheredidyou, who will be 3 in March, so interested to hear of someone buying for a child of a similar age. I wasn't sure if she was still a bit young. She loves the iPhone/iPad, so was thinking this would be a good alternative!

I think your 2 and 3 year old will probably enjoy one. But your 5 year old will probably be a bit underwhelmed. My 5 year doesn't really play with hers very much, she says the games are boring, and yes they're very expensive too.

She prefers playing games online on my laptop, which are also all free!

Hi Nuzzle, same with my DD, she loves my iPad! I read that if they are already familiar with mum or dad's iPad or whatever, then they will be well able to make the most of the leap pad at 3 [hsmile]

My dds have innotabs and have loved them, but dd1 who is 7 has pretty much outgrown hers now so would say not for the 5.6 yr old as she won't get much use. We've just worked out how to transfer music from iTunes to it though so she can now use it as an mp3 which should mean a bit more use

We just got our 4yr old the leapad from last yr, not this yrs leapad 2, from Argos today for £50 which is a bargain and got great reviews.

DD (4) is also getting a leap pad (last years model) and tbh if she is a bit old for it then she will still use the camera as she doesn't have a digital camera but I do think she will love it especially as her older brother is getting a tablet ( so she will have her own "tablet" iyswim)....

My eldest dc (7) had one for Christmas from her grandparents last year, she's barely played with it. They bought dc2 the vtech toy laptop and he hasn't played with that at all - I think because they have played on the PC and iPad the poor graphics on the innotab are really off-putting. I wouldn't have bought them, in fact the gp's asked me in advance whether i thought they'd be a good idea and i said no - they went ahead anyway. I think they were a total waste of money
