Leappad has arrived- what else do we need for it?

So after a little research mainly based on price we got one of the above for ds1 (5). He has never had anything remotely electronic before (and asked for something after his younger brother got a kiddizoom for his birthday). Neither dh or I are remotely interested in computer/phone games and stuff like that - basically we are dinosaurs Blush. I read all the reviews about Apps and stuff without ever really knowing what an App is Grin.

Anyway, now it has arrived and looks all lovely and shiny but do we need to get anything else for ds to be able to have any fun with it? I have seen that 4 Apps are included but for how long are these likely to amuse ds? His expectations are probably pretty low as he has only been on the odd Cbeebies game on the laptop up to now. I don't really want to spend a huge amount more as I want to get him a few other bits but I don't want it to be a let-down for him.

Advice please!

Protective case.
Gel skin.
Screen protectors.

All available from amazon.

DD likes the princessy type games and ebooks, but also the catterpillar one? Hungry bug's picnic or something. And the wildlife videos. I think she has the most fun using taking photos and videos with it though.

You can buy game cartridges and you can download apps from the leapfrog website.

The leapfrog site has descriptions of all of the different games and 'books'.

Some are tv related and some aren't. They all have an element of education.
