I am in need of 2 things in particular this year - a pretty garland for my fireplace, and a way of displaying cards. I have tried various methods including those long card things that the cards slot into, but they always just fall off even though I don't overload them, and ribbon/string arrangements held up with copious amount of blu-tac but that didn't work either. So I normally just blu tac each card to the doors (my living room has 2 doors so plenty of room to display). Any ideas? Colours not super important but red or silver would be nice :-)
Oh yes budget £20 max for a garland, £10 max for card display. (I should add that card display needs to be on doors because DH and I have December birthdays so our birthday cards get to go on the fireplace/windowsill etc).

Thanks for the ratbagcatbag, I'm in the North East though. Thanks FredWorms that garland is just the sort of thing I'm looking for, understated and would look good with my existing decor.
Didn't expect such quick replies I guess everyone is starting to think Christmas as the weather turns!

String and little pegs, but you have to tie the string ends on to something.

I'm lucky, I have a book case with poles at the ends rather than solid sides.

Otherwise you have to utelise existing strong point or as we do for fairy lights hide painted over nails in dark corners above high furniture.

I went to b&q last year on the Monday before Christmas. They had loads of Christmas secs, lights, candles, trees, garlands, wreaths etc etc

Was all 75% off! I bought a trolley full for £68 and got masses of stuff. Apparently they do it every year. Will be going again this year.(bit grotto like in Boys' house)

I use ribbons hanging from the ceiling in the corners of the room - I put them up with those 3M command adhesive hook things - where you pull the tag sideways and they peel off - even off wallpaper - they are fab!! I then attach cards with those mini pegs...

Over the top grotto style here too - hubby wants "stylish" - hahahahahahaha
