Pinocchio school play - help with songs please

My DD's school is doing Pinocchio for her school play this year. She has been sent home with various songs to learn, but she is only 5, so can't really explain what the tune is.

I have tried you-tube etc to see if I can find the songs, with no luck. They don't seem to be the same songs as the Disney version. Has anyone else done Pinocchio as a school play?

For example, 'Everything's coming up roses', apparently to the tune of 'when you wish upon a star' - try as I might, I just cannot fit the words to the tune. We also need to learn the jack-in-a-box song and soldier song. We have the words, but not the tune.

I am trying to avoid an embarrassing convo / singing encounter with the teacher if I can help it.

Has anyone any experience of this play?

You are not allowed to use the Disney songs in school/amateur performances of Pinocchio so it sounds like the teachers have written their own words to avoid the copyright issue.

I would simpkly concentrate on learning thw words, as she rehearses at school the tunes will stick but it is really difficult for young children to read lyric sheets hence why learning the words in advance can be useful.

Jakers, how would you fit "everythings coming up roses" to "when you wish upon a star"? I will go and google for you.

Ev'rything's coming up roses for me and for you
Curtain up, light the lights, we've got nothing to hit but the heights.
You'll be swell, you'll be great, I can tell just you wait'
That lucky star I talk about is due, honey.
Ev'rything's coming up roses for you.

I has got to the stage that my DD is begging me not to sing. Blush

Are you sure that they have changed the tune to wish upon a star and are not using the song from Gypsy.

Positive - it says at the bottom of the lyrics - to 'When you wish upon a star'

But I've tried it - it just sounds bizarre.
