I'm a full time 'blogger' ... I have 1 website that's had 4 million users over time and gives me a full time income of approximately 40k (it should be doing better than this tbh but I was learning as I went... Im working on 3 other sites. One of which is also earning but not yet full time.

One of my sites is about DIY and Crafts... my second is about self care and personal development, my third is a recipe site but I'm struggling to get that one going, the fourth is a craft one which I'm hoping will rank on Google eventually for its niche... it's a very small niche but with an upward trend atm

I started in December 2018 after having no money for Christmas. I wanted to make a change to my life and now I'm doing better than I ever have. It's not been easy, especially in the beginning as it took time to see any financial return... I started earning an income approximately 9 months after starting which I know is pretty lucky

I have an ad provider on there. Wait until you get 50k views per month and you can get mediavine, I think it's slightly more for ad thrive. I wouldn't bother with Adsense. What are you blogging about?

Also interested in how you would monetise, say, a wordpress blog.

Did you build any sites yourself? If not, which ones do you use?

I did build them myself, it's doable on Wordpress. So you'd buy a domain name and host it with someone like blue host, I started with bluehost and never had a problem. I have a different host now though. My theme on my sites is called generate press and it's easy to fiddle around and get it looking great. I use Canva to make my images for it, such as a header and logo etc.

I think the trick is to get started and learn as you go although I'm aware it's can be so frustrating trying to learn these techy things

I make most of my money through ad revenue however I'm clearly doing it wrong as i should be making more through affiliate sales... so I'm trying to learn all about that now and implement.

I get some Google traffic organically, although when I first started I had no idea about how to get Google traffic so for site one that's been very slow. Site 2 is doing much better and I'm ranking top on Google for some search terms.

Most of my traffic comes from Pinterest

@SOLINVICTUS

Initially I was going to have a parenting blog but I was very random with my topics and posted a diy post which was my first viral post... I decided to move into diy at that point, plus I also love crafts and diy so that was a plus.

I try and do one day per site, so about 4-6 hours per day as a rough guide but obviously it could be a lot less work if I was focusing on just one. I found it a lot more work in the beginning when building up the content on a site.

I haven't even attempted to use Facebook and Instagram yet, I use Pinterest to promote my content. I'm trying to get my head around TikTok. My biggest focus is improving my ranking on Google now

Is that why when I find a recipe on pinterest I'm taken to an utterly terrible blog site with dozens of adverts, floating banners, and pages that jump as adverts load after the content?
I leave within seconds, but is just clicking through the link enough to give the impression that people are reading the site?
Apologies if that's a derail, I've always wondered why there's so many adverts that some blogs are unusable.

I know ads are frustrating and there definitely needs to be a happy medium, sites need to be fast and not have too many pop ups etc otherwise users won't return and how a user behaves on the site will tell Google whether the site is good or not. So yeah I know there are some ridiculously unusable sites out there. My sites do have ads but they're user friendly. I could have those full page ads that appear when you click a link to go to another page but I think they're horrible for users.

What makes you an expert on all those things you mentioned?? Why should people want to readyour blogs?

Tbf @tenlittlecygnets I don't think you have to be an expert to blog about something. Just have some sort of opinion.

For example there's many blogs about travel. They're not all expert travellers. But they provide an interesting/funny/unusual POV.

Do you make any money of views to the website or purely ads? (I'm a cheapskate who uses ad block as they just slow down my laptop and pop up all over the place but I like to support small businesses and blogs so I do feel kind of bad
