Hobbycraft have asked us to find out what arts and crafts activities you’ll be doing with your DCs during the Easter period.

Here’s what they say, “With lots of opportunities for fun over the Easter holidays we’d love to know what crafty activities you’ll be taking part in this Easter holidays! Are you making Easter bonnets, or even creating your own egg hunt or maybe baking with the kids? Here at Hobbycraft we’d love to hear about how you create your own Easter family traditions!”

So, what kind of arts and crafts activities will you be doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter? Maybe you’ll be painting and decorating Easter eggs? Or will you be making Easter bonnets in time for an Easter bonnet parade at school? Whatever it is we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where three lucky Mumsnetters will win £100 Hobbycraft gift cards!

Last year, here at MNHQ we put together a video tutorial on making an Easter bonnet so if you need any inspiration do check it out!

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

P.S. For more Easter crafts ideas, check out our Hobbycraft pages on Mumsnet.

We are doing some batch cooking for our new baby arrives. My DS loves helping in the kitchen so he is very pleased. We made some scones at the weekend too and have a kite to decorate.

egg hunt for sure - both my Dp and me did that as children. Also egg decorating with natural dyes. Not sure what school has planned yet, but we do love bonnet making and they usually have something going on like that.

I've managed to find a few twigs to put in a vase, so we'll create an 'Easter Tree' for the kitchen (or maybe the sitting room if it looks ok!). Plan to go to Hobbycraft and buy all the stuff we need, and hope that the glitter stays on the decorations and not all over my house!
If I can get my sewing machine going, I'll wizz up some bunting, too.

We will be doing indoor and outside egg hunts. We like to make maps and help kids find some eggs hidden round the house following maps, and they like to make their own too Smile

Next week we are making bonnets and baskets then we are making cards and decorating egg printouts.

We are also making hot cross buns and easter biscuits as well as organising an easter egg hunt!

Also trying to squeeze in some chocolate making!

My husband found some paper mache eggs in the local craft shop and the kids decorated one with tissue paper for me for Mother's Day. That has given me an idea - forget the chocolate eggs, we'll be pva and tissue paper everywhere!

We'll be doing an egg hunt in the garden, make some Easter cakes, and will possibly make papier-mâché Easter baskets. I've got a white tree from Hobbycraft that I might decorate too.

We'll be doing an Easter Egg Hunt - an indoor one for sure and maybe one round the garden if the weather permits!

We'll probably do some baking too - Easter cup cakes.

And making Easter cards for grandparents.

We will do some Easter baking. Probably nests or cupcakes. And make / decorate basic Easter bonnets

We will be painting eggs.
We also have to make the signs and clues for a treasure hunt. My eldest is helping with this.

Easter cards definitely :) sneaky way to get some writing practice in too!

Easter bonnets with a kit

Plus some baking/cooking including chocolate krispy cake nests with mini eggs in, and I'm sure some general craft projects where they are let loose with all the different things we have collected over the years and make whatever they feel like

I'm planning to make our first ever Easter bonnets. DD was ill when they made them at her nursery last year and she still hasn't forgotten that she didn't do one!

I've got some moulds to make our own chocolate bunnies and mini-eggs but may get them both to decorate some little gift boxes so they can give them away as presents.

We will be making Easter cards to send out to family.
We always make nest cakes with shredded wheat, melted chocolate and mini eggs! Yum!
Granny will set up an Easter egg hunt in their garden.
Before the kids I made hot cross buns. I would like to do them again!

We're doing some baking for school bake sale and some for home consumption. Making Easter cards, decorating boiled eggs and an egg hunt.

Limited opportunities for fun here, as apart from the bank holiday weekend the only time I will be off work is when we are away.

I will be doing lots this week like making egg hunt bags and presents, but I suspect DC craft will be done independently, other than maybe some baking. DS got a big canvas and some acrylic paints as part of a prize, so he wants to get his teeth into that. DD will no doubt come home from holiday club brim full of ideas for turning any poor unsuspecting piece of paper which stays still too long into something or other. This will probably happen on the "feral" days when I am working from home and they amuse themselves.

Sympathy please for GCSE Mums.
Just as DD 16 has to ramp up revision in the Easter holidays her art teacher as suggested that the leather bag she made could be augmented with a hand dyed silk scarf.
So we will be looking at fabric dye.
DD would actually love doing this if there wasn't so much other pressure.

We're going to do egg decorating for the first time this year, and also make an easter bonnet. If I'm feeling very crafty we might do some cards as well.

We make Easter cards for Grandma and Grandpa and decorate hard boiled eggs! We also make little Easter nest cakes and chick shaped biscuits to hang on our Easter tree! (We decorate a branch with Easter themed hangings - many home made!)
