Hi I am venus and I am an alcoholic.

Thanks to the first thread by Jesuswhatnow I have not had a drink for a long time.

There are lots of us on here, please lurk, post, whatever does it for you. If you are worried about how much you drink and your inability to stop when you want to, then someone on here can probably understand.

Glad your evening went well zany

I'm off for another busy day (running training courses for most of this week). See you all later.

Well done Venus, I'm sure it would have taken me 17 hours. Will catch up later, if I do it now I'll be late for work!

New subject for discussion. Trouser-suits. Wasie, you was wearing a trouser suit last night? There was an interview on Woman's Hour yesterday about professional women wearing trouser suits would you believe. Some nonsense about how unsexy and manly they are and how women should embrace their feminity and wear skirts and killer heels to work! I LOVE trouser-suits, or rather suits with trousers. If they're well-cut they're sexy, elegant and professional all at the same time. Have a good day all. Glad the date went well Zany, even though the beer goggles were only semi misted up.

Interesting question dipso

I hate skirts and tops (does nothing for my 'figure' and makes me feel uncomfotable).

I love dresses though, usually with a jacket for formal work stuff - makes me feel sexy and professional.

I like trouser suits, and I have some that were made for me in Asia which just fit every countour perfectly - knowing the fit is so good gives me more confidence than whether I am appealing to any of the audience.

Don't do heels though.

Morning All.

Congrats zany on your date!

I did 'ok' last night, just 'ok'. I hoped to have one/two drinks with my friend, but ended up having 4 small (125 ml) glasses of wine. HEAPS less than usual, but oh god I wanted more. Had a pint and a half of sparkling water in there too.

Bit tired this morning. Determined to crack this thing.

Not drinking today AT ALL. Need something to occupy my hand in the evening so heading off later to see if I can get one of those embroidery kit things.

Trouser suits.... can look great on some women. Not me, with my (drinking) roll of fat around the middle. I heard the WH interview also, and found it odd that .. oh shit, gotta go, bin man

ClearAndPresent · 17/11/2010 08:39

.. sorry. Missed the bin man, and not prepared to run out in my old pj's.

Women's Hour interview... I found it a little uncomfortable that whoever it was was advocating more or less that women have a responsibility to look feminie in the workplace. There were negative comments about women who have short hair and do not wear makeup. Personally I never go out without makeup, because I enjoy wearing it, but horses for courses.

I dream of being able to look good in a trouser suit. Maybe if i lose this extra 2 stone that is hanging around...... :)

Hope you all have good days.

I'm reading jwn's original thread.
DD had a 4th febrile fit last night, to hospital and then home again and she slept in my bed.
I woke up with a horrendous vomiting hangover... Idiot.

Morning......

I had a tiny panic attack when I logged on this morning and saw the thread was full.

Sorry venus, yes, there is a much easier way but it took me ages to click so I feel your pain!

Just keep linking to the last link so that you can follow that journey and the ones before, like I did on the last one!

I knew I should've done a new thread last night before bed Grin

Good morning lovely Babes. How is everyone today? I had a most pleasant afternoon and evening Wink (Apart from the bit where I had to go see XH, that wasn't so nice!)

noteven be gentle with yourself today. There is no point in beating yourself up. What's done is done, you can't change it but you can choose not to drink today.

mouse you've been quiet. Everything OK?

morning!!, thanks for the new thread wasindie - i would still be sitting here trying to do it! Blush

hmm, skirt v trousers - only one way to find out!!! FIIIIIIIIIGHTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!! Grin

seriously - in business, in life, if you are comfortable you will look confident - if you are forever pulling things up/down, de wedging your drawers etc you wont concentrate on the business in hand! (there is still no excuse for those horrid little black ankle boots with the silly little frumpy block heels though!! Grin)

see you later babes!!

Had a drink already - I need to stop, right?

Spoken to work, mum and dp. I just want to sleep. I am reading MIFLAWs advice to jwn - a hangover won't kill me, but alcohol definitely might.

Morning everyone

Boy do I feel rough today, so annoyed that I ended up having so much to drink last night, knackered now and I've got soooo much to do. Determined not to have anything tonight.

Could have done with the phone app last night when I was replying to date's late text!

I wear trousers to work loads, more comfy and warmer in the winter.

RedMoomin · 17/11/2010 10:02

noteven please try to put it down if you can. Have you skived off work to drink? (An old trick of mine!) You know that you need to stop but we all know how bloody hard it is. You can do it though lovely. Sending you warm hugs (MN or not.)

C&P

"I hoped to have one/two drinks with my friend, but ended up having 4 small (125 ml) glasses of wine. HEAPS less than usual, but oh god I wanted more."

Can I do you a favour and split that into two sentences for you?

"I hoped to have one/two drinks with my friend, but ended up having 4 small (125 ml) glasses of wine."

This is the sentence that is telling you all you need to know. You wanted one or two, you had four.

"HEAPS less than usual, but oh god I wanted more." This sentence is almost entirely irrelevant, except as regards your health.

If you want to cut down on rioja so as to be able to get into that LBD for Xmas, keep telling yourself the second sentence.

If, on the other hand, you feel that you have a problem with drinking, it's the first one that might save your life.
