Well, this is our tenth thread so we are throwing a little party!

Everyone is invited! No booze of course, soft drinks and mocktails only!

I'm Mouse, hello. Smile

There are all kinds of drinkers on board the bus. Come and join the journey, whatever stage you are at, drinking, cutting down, wanting to stop or sober already.

Everyone is welcome to post here. Come say hi.

The journey so far is below.

I'm here as well! Heading to bed, trying to think positive thoughts about my wee toots having lovely friends and enjoying her sleep over (particularly now her mother is sober) - Trying not to feel hard done by that they will keep me awake half the night!
Night all

Hello all, I've nearly joined your thread a few times, but I stopped drinking on holiday, 16th August and haven't had a drink since. I can honestly say that I have hardly missed it and I haven't felt seriously tempted to have a drink since.
My secret is that I read Allen Carr's Easy way to control alcohol.
I thought I would share that with you just in case it could help anyone else.

Welcome ExDrinker
Fantastic to hear you haven't been tempted to drink since August. Sadly I can't say the same. Am living from hour to hour at the weekends - my danger time.
Am reserving my place on the bus. Am happy to sit anywhere. I can drive, am sober and am used to driving a clapped out Ford Galaxy so I am putting myself forward for emergency driving duties.
Can I have a little sleep first?

JWN, you are amazing and an inspiration to me.

Night (again)

lucilastic, it must be so hard for you.
Why don't you try reading the book? It won't do any harm, and the good bit is that as long as you don't read it when you've had a drink, you can continue drinking without any pressure to stop until you reach the last couple of pages.
I could send you my copy if you like, but I'd like it back, I feel kind of sentimental about it.

I wish you the very best of luck.

Exdrinker, I have nearly bought the book so many times...why haven't I?
That DP will rubbish it. He is in denial that I have a problem with alcohol,
Hang on to your copy. Thanks for the offer but I too feel senimental about certain books and I am hoping this one might be the one to help me sort my addiction out.
Am going to order it.
Thank you and good luck back to you for continued sobriety.
Night night (yet again!) X

Hello all. I am venus and I am an alcoholic. I am currently out of UK for a few weeks and the options for drinkiing here are much fewer than at home. Previously that would have driven me mad, but today I am grateful. Last night some of the people I know here were out at a party and returned pretty pissed. One is a really lovely woman, with a dry, clever sense of humour, gentle, mellow manner, and a lovely sweet smile. She is usually kind, thoughtful and a compassionate listener. Not last night she wasn't. Loud, brash, harsh, stupid, annoying, repetative. I love her normal shy self. I didn't love the drunk over-confident piss-head she'd become.

Have a good Sunday x

Good morning all. Days 3 and 4 alcohol free.

I hope you don't mind me sitting pressed up against the window not saying much. I am normally quite sociable but I am dealing with this by humming loudly to myself, in my own head, if you understand what I mean.

Morning all. I guess it's Day 5 here.

DD2 slept OK but still having trouble getting her to take her inhaler, she hates it. But she seems lots better and our sleep wasn't too bad, not saying I would refuse a little holiday in the maldives, but hey ho
