It took us exactly 6 months to reach 1000 posts on our original thread Here's to another 6 months of the trials and tribulations of expat life

And, in true British style, I must report on the weather: It's snowing

It isn't the title that makes it feel like home, it is the list that gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Oh, yeah, and I must have heard a glass being raised too, that's what led me here.

If we're doing weather, it has finally stopped raining here. 1 friend of ours has heavy flood damage to their home in Washington, and we're assuming another couple has lost their home, because they live in the town the National Guard had to evacuate that was on the news tonight because pretty much everything there was under at least 3 feet of water, and much was destroyed. No phones their land line or cell, so hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

And I think that all the rain that didn't fall here is either headed your way or there by now. You're welcome for that.

(Now's always a pretty good time, because DH is giving the kids a bath, and I have a few minutes of peace and quiet after I finish the dishes. I don't do bath the right way, I guess, and they always request him.)

Blowing a huge gale here . Snow on the way, but hey at least we've not got the floods of Seattle - sorry guys.

Sat here toasting my future as sadly it's my Wedding Anniversary today so a rather sad day. But hey trying to think onwards and upwards.

Here's to the next six months knowing they will be much better. Cheers.

Us too Ali, courtesy of my mum {{hugs}} for you. I know anniversaries are hard - it would have been our tenth earlier this year. 10 years of my life wasted. Except I have DS and I wouldn't change that for the world.

I knew someone who lived in LA for a while and he always complained that they didn't have any weather. You know, ..."it was always warm enough to sit in the hot tub and I'm soooo bored of it"

Ooo, a cardi, califrau. Must be chilly

I love the winter but trying to get out anywhere is a nightmare. It takes longer to get DS into his snow gear than it does to walk to wherever we are going. By the time he's all bundled up he can hardly walk. In fact, when he falls over, he can't get up again. He just lies on the ground yelling, "Mummmmeeeeeee Heeeeeeelllp"

And I still need movie recommendations - has no-one been to see one recently? Anyone seen "I'm not There"

I'd love to help, OR, but the last time I saw a movie was the 1st Lord of the Rings movie with DH and his dad and step-mom. And that was so dull, step-mom and I left the movie and walked across the street to Red Robin and got drinks and snacks.

Laughing at your DS, too. I could see both of mine doing the same thing. If we ever had snow.

Can I add that I'm in Austin specifically? I feel left out with no city next to me I didn't realize there were others currently in Texas around! This board is so huge.

I can't recall the last movie that I saw in a theater. I think it may have been Ratatouie but not sure. Last week got out to hear live music though, so not dead yet!

I'd have been in the RR the whole time, if it weren't so rude, but I figure missing 2 hours of a 3 hour movie wasn't that bad.

I just realized I felt kind of alone with nobody else being under the Northwest area, but now I just feel rather special. All those people living in the Northeast, Texas and California are just faces in a large crowd. . . of 5 or 6.

Films for OverRated - I don't think they're out yet but coming up soon:

Cassandra's Dream - new Woody Allen with a Brit cast

The new National Treasure which I think is set in Britain also.

Am I the only person who watched Dancing with the Stars? Life is so empty now.

I see that snurk, and if I didn't have to go take DS to school right now, I'd come down and get you. But then again, I probably couldn't find you because by that time you would have CHANGED YOUR NAME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
