I have seen so many messages on FB saying that the poorer members of society shouldn't have been allowed to vote.
Because apparently, some members of society aren't capable of making decisions for themselves.
How disgusting and patronising is that?

This is talk from people who are supposedly for the best interests of ALL people.

So how does the labour/lib dem 'ethos' work exactly?

It's good to help people.
As long as you don't ever give them any choice?

Hmm

If Remain had swung it I imagine FB would be full of how the privileged in society get all the best hands. People are lashing out, always happens after any vote.

I've not seen anything like that. Do you acquaint yourself with horrible people?

I've seen a LOT of FB today and not a single thing anything close to your example. I can only conclude you know some truly revolting people.

I think you'll find that's not how democracy or socialism works Confused

I think people to stupid to grasp the argument and realise everything the brexit campaign said was a lie shouldn't have been allowed to vote.

Ive seen none of that. I'm skint and a lot of my friends and family are too and we are all overwhelmingly gutted and angry.

I've not seen anything either. Maybe rethink your facebook friends.

Are these your friends on facebook? On my newsfeed, the remain voters are scared and upset, but none of them are making those sorts of points - maybe review who your friends are?!

Not seen anything like that and all my FB friends are remainers

What do YOU mean OP by 'poorer members of society'?

I've read plenty of disgusting comments from some angry Remain voters this morning. I think it says more about them than the 'uneducated, stupid, racist, underclass' they are claiming all Leave voters to be.

I'm normally totally for completely free democracy but on this occasion I would 100% agree with this!

I have seen one comment like that and I agree OP, not impressed by that kind of thing even in jest.
Particularly when I think it is in part the refusal of mainstream politicians to take people's concerns about immigration seriously that got us into this Brexity mess.

People are lashing out. They are upset. But As a remainer I think a lot of remainers should be ashamed of themselves today.

After the GE it was 'the rich privately educated voted Tory and don't care about the poor, disabled etc. It's a vote for I'm alright jack'

Now it's 'it's the poor and uneducated that voted leave, it's all their fault, they don't understand what they have done'.

Some people just like to group people together and blame them and their background when things don't go the way they want.

I wanted to remain. It didn't happen. I just have to get on with it.

I certainly think if people voted leave to address immigration they ARE uneducated - and naive - sadly they where fed a load of jingoistic bullshit from those working class lads Boris and Farage

70% of or immigration is from outside the EU

European countires who want a trade agreement with the EU have to have free movement of labour

so no change then!

bran - i think that's the most accurate post i've read on here this morning. Some disgusting attitudes being bandied about.

''People who are too stupid shouldn't be allowed to vote''? And these are the ones in the next breath calling the 'outers' bigoted Hmm

SaucyJack · 24/06/2016 10:14

It's a daft comment anyway.

Plenty of us "poor and uneducated" working-class oiks voted to remain.

From my own casual observations, the line seems to have been drawn between the generations (with the older voting to leave) rather than between the classes.

branofthemist · 24/06/2016 10:14

I know quite a few brexiters. Non had immigration as their main concern.

The media and Remain MPs kept saying it was a major issue. Conveniently it led to calls of 'racist m and made it easy to shut down debate.

As a remainer, I think we lost because too many of the remain camp alienated people who were undecided. Just like the GE.

ghostyslovesheep · 24/06/2016 10:18

I wish they'd come and talk to us today Bran - going on the MN comments it was the number 1 issue :(
