I feel I need people to do this with me so I don't just not bother!

Healthy eating (read:not bullshit diet) and exercise plan to get fantastic results!

If you need some support too, come join me! Pllllleeeeeaaaaassssseeeeee! Grin

I need to bring my blood sugar down for my type 2 diabetes and lose some weight. 10kg by Christmas would be amazing so I'm in.

My plan is to eat clean. Mainly meat, fish, eggs and lots of fruit and veg. Low fat dairy, not too much cheese and zero tolerance for processed food. No refined carbs unless unavoidable.

Hopefully it will work. I'm no good with meal plans.

I've given up sugar and refined carbs this week.
I just felt under par, knackered and about 1.5 stone overweight.
It's going so well. I've really up'd my veg this week.
I've already lost 5lbs.
I've realised I eat too much sugar in the form of chocolate, bread, pasta, rice etc.
I've started a great book that has really opened my eyes to the sugary crap that I had become reliant on.
So I'm in.

I saw this article earlier. Looks like your diet plan will work excellently.

My friend came to see me this weekend and since August he has lost 14 per cent of his body fat using mfp to log calories and then burning x amount (usually 600 cals) at the gym meaning he still gets a binge at night! He's amazed me!

This is a great start to eating better.

No. 5lbs was less than a week.
I haven't done a weekly weigh in yet.
I no longer feel the need to crawl into bed at 8pm.
It's really opened my eyes.
Made me feel very positive.
I have been a chronic sufferer of headaches for so long but I haven't had to take any tablets all week.

I bloody love sugar tho! My problem is that my jobs very stressful at the minute and it drives me to the charity sweet boxes which have a fair few IOUs in Blush

Ok... Day one is here! Grin

I'm waking up at 65kg.

Eating peanut butter on toast and a banana for breakfast. No time for a morning jog/exercise today but I hVe a half day. My plan is to do an exercise DVD after I get back, if DD allows. Then chicken salad for lunch or gammon and salad.

What about you guys?

Can I join too? I lost loads of weight 2 years ago but it is slowly creeping back on - early onset menopause and the treatment for it seem to have me insatiable for carbs. 10 kilos before Christmas would be a decent goal. Am too afraid to step on the scales this week, though.Sad

Can I join? I've done a bit of sugar free, low carb etc and it works but i find it restrictive, life gets in the way and I bail. Not this time. I am heavier than I have been for years, it depresses me. not excessively overweight just too much midriff roll and clothes uncomfortable. but I know I feel so much better without sugar.

So, no sugar, no biscuits at work, eggs for breakfast, soup for lunch. (It's raining here) and Beef stew in slow cooker for supper. I will log onto MFP too. I need a willpower pill so I actually make it out on a run tonight!!

Good luck ladies!

Ooh! Could I join too please? Can't exercise for another week or two as I had an op on my spine 10 days ago - but I really need to shift the 3 stone I have put on after a year on steroids and no exercise.
I have set myself a goal of walking a nearby stretch of coastline for charity next summer (95 miles in 3 days) so need to get going!

Great.
I will be having eggs for breakfast.
Any of you having porridge today, skip the sugar/honey and add ground cinnamon.
It helps to regulates your blood sugar levels.
Don't forget to check your portion size. It's much smaller than your used to! Confused

Sorry. Didn't mean to sound so bossy then Blush

Report
Asteria · 06/10/2014 07:12

Bossy is good! I actually have porridge (done with water) and cinnamon through choice - it is really good! I made some almond butter, with a tiny bit of maple syrup, last night. If I feel the need to have something sweet (cutting sugar out) then I can have a teaspoon of that instead. What main meals will you be having OP?

Report
thekitchenfairy · 06/10/2014 08:05

How do you make almond butter? I know I should eat porridge but it just makes me starving an hour later... And I dive into the work biscuit tin Hmm

McBear · 06/10/2014 08:07

Sounds painful asteria! Is that when they've advised you to start exercising? Seems very soon

Yes bossy is good!

The more the merrier!!!!

My main meals will either be a chicken and veg stew type meal or gammon/chicken/meat with salad or veg. For ease at work it'll be cooked the night before or it will be a tin of veg soup. I'm not sure how healthy that actually is tho!

There is a woman at work who is me in about 10 years if I carry on this way. She struggles to get up the stairs to the office and the walk from the car to her desk (up the stairs) leaves her more than breathless. She has type 2 diabetes but eats terribly. She gets round it by eating what she wants and adjusting her sugars accordingly.

I'm as blind as her to actual dieting/weightloss and healthy eating! DP goes to the gym 6 days a week for weights and mon and fri he goes back for a 10k cardio session. I don't want to go that crazy but I want that determination.

May I join please?

Another one in need of a willpower pill.

I really need to lose 10Kg. I just don't feel well atm and am always tired. I keep losing three to five kilos and then putting it all back on. I really want to keep it off this time!

When I lost weight before, I found batch cooking healthy soups and freezing them in individual portions sizes helpful.

I'm going to return to MFP and I'm wearing a pedometer.

Really need to succeed this time but have kind of lost my confidence that I can. I know I just need to stick to the basic rules and do it consistently.

Good luck everyone!

Stewedcoot · 06/10/2014 08:20

Oh yes and portion size is a big issue with me.

My dh is a fabulous cook and I always have seconds and sometimes thirds.

Any tips for stopping at one plateful?

Asteria · 06/10/2014 08:22

Almond butter is seriously easy - just chuck a load of almonds (best with skins) into a food processor and blitz for about 10 mins. It will go through a ground almond phase, then a big hard dough, keep going until it suddenly turns all buttery (when the oils come out). I put a pinch of Himalayan pink salt and a dash of maple syrup in, but this does make it a bit harder to spread. I have heard that roasting them and then processing whilst still hot makes it quicker - will try that next time.
The back is painful - but I have had issues for years. Surgeon has assured me that I can't do any more (serious) damage, he has cut the nerves so I'm just waiting for the pain to go so I can exercise before they grow back!! I have between 3 and 6 months (possibly more) to get as fit and fat-free as possible!

Stewed, take your plate into the kitchen and put in dishwasher or sink then go do something else. It's the only way.

I got new batteries for the scales yesterday. I'm psyching myself up to getting on them

Seriously you lot this book has really opened my eyes.
I downloaded it on kindle and read half in 1 go.

sweetnothingbook.com/

My eyes have been opened to the crap I was eating, feeling ropey and blaming everything (kids, job, busy life) but my food intake.

Report
Asteria · 06/10/2014 10:39

I was thinking about getting that book. DH and DS could both do with cutting back on sugars too - especially DH who is restless and irritable a lot.
