Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

Over the Christmas period I've purchased a vast amount of skincare and haircare products. My plan is to start taking decent care of my skin and try to give my fizzy dry hair a boost. I received a Parlux hairdryer for Christmas too so that should help.
Goals are:
Continue with my weight lose (I've lost 2 stone already) another 2 stone to go.
Cleanse my face properly every day
Exfoliate regularly and not just twice a year
Get a night time skin regime going
Whiten teeth
Start with 5,000 steps a day and move up to 10,000 by end of January.
2 litres of water a day
Don't buy anymore clothes until I've lost the excess weight.

I'm in, please. I need to drop some weight. I'm giving up fizzy drinks (waaaahhh! I love Coke so much), getting my teeth capped and whitened, and I need to take much better care of my hair. I stopped wearing make up in April after my mum died, and I either need to start wearing it again, or do something about my skin.

It's all a bit overwhelming...

I'm in! I'm going on holiday in Feb so I'm going to use that as a target for the next six weeks, and will then pick new targets afterwards.

No takeaways, junk food or alcohol until the holiday.
Regular exfoliating and moisturising.
Wash my face properly each night and morning.
Do my nails weekly.

That'll do for now!

I'm in, I need to lose 4 stone Blush I'm starting SW on Tuesday.
Also going to improve my skin care routine and aim to do at least 10,000 steps a day.

We are going to Italy in April so I'm really hoping to have made a significant improvement by then.

There is an extreme self care thread which will be similar, I think. I'm supposed to have read a book about it...

I'm in! Main goal for me is no more alcohol in the week. Start a skin care routine. Drink more water. My hours at work drop next month and I intend on using my free time to start running again. I need a self esteem boost! Good luck all.

Thanks for setting this up, OP. There're several things I'm going to be working on in the coming weeks/months:

  • Avoiding grains
  • Avoiding dairy
  • Continuing to avoid sugar and alcohol (gave these up last year)

I'm getting strict with my diet as I really want to drop a stone and a half before an event I have in early March.

I also want to sort my hair out. I will:
  • Go sulphate, silicone and paraben free, and condition-wash-condition.
  • Avoid heatstyling, instead use my boar

bristle brush to volumize
  • Get hair trimmed every eight weeks
  • Do a protein treatment every 6 weeks
  • Not colour at all until 2018. Over the last year, I have been using box colours every 6 weeks or so, which is how my hair has got into such a state.

Will also be continuing with the skin care regime I started last year, and adding in a retinoid.

That's it for now. I'll build more stuff in once these things are established habits.

Good luck everyone!

Oh, and I'll be returning to my running club and restarting a beginners 0-5k programme.

I'm in. I've completely neglected myself last year (had ds2 in march) and made no time for myself which made me grumpy and tired.

Goals - swimming lessons / go swimming 2 x wk
Regular skin care routine
Regular supplement
Read a book
Learn something new (have signed up to free online OU courses to get my brain ticking over).
Clear out clothes that will never wear again (i.e. Pre-children night out dresses)! It's getting depressing seeing them languishing in the wardrobe!

Great to have a big gang of us all supporting each other!
Dh and I are going to try to do dry January but as we all know, things crop up and I'm not so determined that I'll attend functions without a drink! So we're cutting down and cutting out the nightly glass or 2.
Oyster my daughter did (or rather I enforced!) the curly girl method on her hair as she has a very loose curl due to being mixed race (so some Afro qualities but on a more Caucasian type hair) and that involved cutting out the sulphates and we also only shampooed once a week and did a conditioner wash the other times. It dramatically improved the condition of her hair.

Had a busy day putting the decs down and eating all the leftover bread, cheese, chutney and gammon! Shall begin in earnest tomorrow- although what I really really need is a good nights sleep. Ds has the chicken pox, so that doesn't seem likely as he's already pretty poorly, so we'll see......!!
Good luck everyone

  • Hoping to lose some weight and maintain the loss
  • gym ideally twice but at least once every week
  • no chocolate or crisps for the next month
  • need to do a clear out of my clothes. I need to be ruthless and get back space in the wardrobe.

Cocolepew · 01/01/2017 17:45

Walk the dog every day, even if DD has already taken her out. At least 45 mins of walking.
Stop eating chocolate.
Try not to eat anything after dinner.
Not to buy clothes for the sake of it.
Sort my skin out.

Count me in,

  • Going to lose 1.5 stones this year and maintain it. Need to cut down on carbs & sugar big time.
  • Going to drink 2 litres of water every day.
  • Going to walk 5 times per week.

  • Have to sort out my hair this year and get into some sort of routine with it. Regular cuts & treatment after colour. Need to look into this a bit more.

  • Currently using nip & fab products and skin looking good for it.
  • Need to regularly get eyebrows threaded & tinted.
  • Need to keep up 3 weekly shellacs.
  • Going to stop buying crap clothes that last a couple of washes and invest in some quality pieces.

Think that's me for now !!

I'll have a bash.

I am crap at looking after myself, but have been making effort more recently.

I'd like to:

Lose a couple of stone via BIWIs low carb boot camps
Keep my eyebrows in reasonable shape
Keep my nails in reasonable shape (I've got a UV gel lamp)
Keep my hair colour topped up
Cleanse and moisture my skin most days
Stop picking my spots
Clean my teeth every day
Shower more often
Wear makeup for work

I understand some of these are very basic and second nature to most people but I have Aspergers and issues with executive function (planning and putting things into action) so these will be major achievements for me Smile
