Thanks Littleham. I an going to have a Wine and start relaxing now. DD has finished and I have a lounge full of girls (young ladies) drinking Pimms and eating burgers. They are a mixed bunch - 1 hoping to do medicine, 1 going to Manchester Met, 1 doing a stint of volunteer work in the third world through her church and all shades between. They are all lovely and all celebrating the end of exams and the relief whatever results day will bring.

Thanks for thread Littleham. Wonder if we will fill it with all the partying exploits before results day.

Thats awful MrsB with the RS today. Hope it all turns out well and gets taken into consideration.

Good luck to all those DC who still have papers to go.
OCR Physics tomorrow, then DD done.

Oh my goodness mrs B. I would definitely pursue it formally - with the school and with the cambridge college where the offer is. All the rigmarole these schools put our children through to make sure they do everything absolutely correctly. Totally unacceptable and incompetent for the school to then go and get something so basic wrong. At least the students spoke up instead of soldiering on.

We are done thank goodness. Biology aqa - not as bad as the last paper, which is good enough for me. We are sitting on a train travelling down to visit my mum whose in a nursing home before DD goes off for a break with her friends on sat. She's fast asleep next to me!

Marking place so I don't get left behind. Good to hear that some serious relaxing is starting already.

Hope all goes well for those with exams still to sit.

mumslife - they were entered for Edexcel RS Implications paper but the wrong option, as far as I can work out. Luckily they had spare papers for the 1 girl who was entered correctly or I don't know what they would have done. I have emailed the exams officer, so we shall see what they say.

Lovely to hear about those who have finished starting their celebrations. Dd has lovely things planned with her friends (including prom next week). She will now be able to see 2 of her best friends again who she was avoiding as they did the IB and finished weeks ago. She didn't want their holiday mood to distract her from revision!

Have just been testing DD on physics definitios for tomorrow's paper (also OCR here). It has done nothing to calm my nerves. On the plus side, I've learned more physics in the past hour than in the previous 30 years. Go on, ask me what a tesla is.

MrsB, so sorry that your DD had such a rough time with RS. I hope it all works out OK in the end.

DD is off to Disneyland for two days next week. Then I will be encouraging her to get some work, though I don't iknow how she will fit it around her various holidays.

All my (fake) positivity is deserting me and I am feeling very anxious about results day. Thank goodness for this thread so I can vent.

Lol at the new found physics knowledge muffinmonster Smile

Sorry to hear about your DDs exam experience MrsBartlet it doesn't sound great.

We had the terrible suit shopping experience this morning and who knew that I was completely clueless about whether a dinner suit looked nice or not Hmm

AQA Physics tomorrow morning, then that's it!
I am taking all the DCs to a concert on Friday to celebrate ('Space Spectacular' at the Albert Hall - including all the Star Wars themes they used to play in junior band)
DS has spotted a job on offer at a local café, hope he gets it (or finds something else to do over the summer).

Mrs B - I hope your DD's RS mix up is sorted and she is compensated in some way

DD finished yesterday and was utterly miserable today. I vaguely remember feeling the same - all that adrenalin suddenly leaves you and you plummet. Hope the others are celebrating and feeling more cheerful!

I don't think my dd will know what to do today without any revision to do. (Hopefully job hunting will start soon)

this thread should be entitled partying exploits of a bunch of eighteen year olds free from A levels - lol!

MrsB what a bizarre mix-up :( Hope the school are suitably apologetic. I mentioned that my dd1's school hadn't noticed that half the texts had changed for her Classical Civ retake - she (and the other girl in the same position) ended up being withdrawn from it, and the school sent us a very grovelling letter and one of the things it said was that the head of 6th form was going to write to their firm and insurance universities to explain what had happened, as they felt the girls were possibly at a disadvantage. Perhaps this could be something your school could do re this paper, as well as applying for special circumstances leniency.

Wonder whether we will still be on thread #6 by the time 13th August rolls around .... :)

Atiao My thoughts exactly, said earlier thats the type of stuff we are likely to fill this thread with.

Just a two hour dreaded Physics paper, and that's it.

Report
MrsBartlet · 18/06/2015 08:33

Atia - I am awaiting a response from the school today. It is such a good school and dd loves it so a shame to end with something like this.

Report
Molio · 18/06/2015 08:35

MrsB that's seriously slack on the school's part, not in any way an oh these things happen sort of thing. The school now has a duty to act to try to limit damage. It's obviously particularly bad given your DD's situation.

Physics here this morning and geography tomorrow. I really hope they don't pull any stunts on today's paper - I think DS is very conscious they might, not that that will help.
