split second timing there Ohoneohtwo!
nice one:o

Suzannewithaplan · 16/03/2015 22:54

agree with you on the alcohol familygerms

I remember that I used to be able to drink way back when....when was it?
erm sometime in my mid 30's I think it wasConfused
but then my tolerance just dropped, one glass of wine ruins the next day for me.

I've been teetotal for a few years now, just not interested any more!

5madthings · 16/03/2015 23:15

Marking place. No running from me today as my hips were still niggly so thought best not. I am currently making an 'emmett' cake from lego movie and cursing ever having promised madthing4 that I would do so. Shall do a nice easy run tomorrow, I will certainly need it as madthing4 has five friends coming round after school for a birthday tea and lego movie party...

EdithDickie · 16/03/2015 23:16

Ooh shiny new thread Grin

3 miles from me today. And hips feeling OK (touch wood!)

Suzanne I had a dry January, and have just kept going - I just don't fancy a drink any more. I'm feeling much better for it.

I haven't tried 5:2 before, but I think I will fast on rest days. Tomorrow is a running day Wink

Morning all!
Marking my place on the new thread. I'm enjoying all the food talk. I eat really healthy meals but I'm a real sugar addict and have been particularly awful since Christmas. I had given myself a kick up the bum on Sunday night about it all, then, coincidentally you all started talking about food too.
I am about 6lbs overweight but about a stone above where I feel most comfortable.
Yesterday I limited myself to one chocolate which was an amazing improvement.
My Mother's Day gift was a Fitbit (very lucky) so I'm hoping that will encourage me too.

Not run from me today but will do the abs and arms from Davina tonight and definitely walk my 10,000 steps now I have my Fitbit.

Anglaise1 · 17/03/2015 08:01

Neeko I hope you enjoy your Fitbit and find it useful for keeping up daily steps. I've had mine for nearly 2 years now and have daily steps set at 15000 which is easy to do when I run but not so easy when I'm teaching and sedentary all day. Dog walks help! Not sure how accurate the calorie info is but it helps give you an idea of how few or how many you have burnt in a day.
I enjoy wine too much to give it up but I'm not drinking this week. Day 2 of high fat no carbs and I have a headache. And I'm hungry.

PoppyShakespeare · 17/03/2015 08:57

I'd love a pedometer or similar, would quite like a vivofit to store all my garmin stuff together but they are a bit £££ and am slightly out of love with garmin after garminconnect went weird and the reviews were not that enthralling

familygermsareok · 17/03/2015 09:08

One of my work places gave pedometers to the staff to try and collectively walk across Africa or something. I used to jog on the spot when brushing my teeth, making tea, washing up, etc ( well, more like walking on the spot to save too many broken dishes). I was probably being a bit too competitive to get my numbers up but it was amazing what a difference it made Wink.
Not sure if it counts as cheating though, but you are more active.

5 early miles of intervals this morning.

PoppyShakespeare · 17/03/2015 10:25

have ordered the old vivofit despite new one sounding much better and out any day now! they are pretty cheap in black and will be nice to have simpler, less stressful goals for now

emummy · 17/03/2015 10:29

Progression run this morning, quite happy with pace.
3.5 so 953.81

stilllearnin · 17/03/2015 12:32

2 miles of intervals in my lunch break (sneaky!) 955.82

Neeko how are you finding davina? I do those workouts a couple of times a week. Can't say I love it! Sometimes it feels like not much time at all. The advanced and is ok but don't you think it kind of concentrates on one area? I prefer jillian but she hurt me and I'm not ready to go back there yet Smile

runtothehills · 17/03/2015 12:47

Hi, thanks for new thread ohOne

7 miles steady hill route today and 4 Tempo from yesterday. Not the most inspiring of weather after such a lovely weekend but when needs must!

I have to admit I love my carbs and the odd glass of wine too, but agree with Suzanne that running the next day after a glass is not good.

Hello Grin
Marking my place

Neeko · 17/03/2015 12:55

anglaise-I'm currently quite obsessed by my Fitbit and have found I've walked around the classroom far more than usual to up the steps.

Still- I quite like the Davina in the sense that it is quick and easy to squash into even the busiest of days. I'm looking at it more from a toning point of view so I do the abs and the arms etc but it doesn't really raise my heart rate and I wouldn't want to be relying on just that for fitness.
If only I didn't sweat so much and need to stretch and shower after every run. Then I'd just run for 15 mins on super busy days instead. WinkGrin

stilllearnin · 17/03/2015 13:04

Yes I've not tried the jumpy around bits as I'm scared of the knees. It does encourage you to get out of bed and fit it in before breakfast. I am laughing at you pacing round the classroom. I'd be sunk- I sit at a desk all day and dont I know it!

Neeko · 17/03/2015 13:16

Finding messages to go to on the third floor too BlushGrin

AggressiveBunting · 17/03/2015 14:04

Just popping in to get this on my 'I'm on' list. Legs just about recovered from the race so going to hazard Crossfit tomorrow ( upper body session) plus the run there and back.

Nothing to add re diet as mine's appalling. I do need to think about losing a few kg to give me a bit more speed but I'll eat the creme eggs in the fridge first.

MrsWahlberg · 17/03/2015 15:42

Plucking up the courage to join this thread!
Had baby 36 weeks ago and started running about 30 weeks ago! Try and do at least two 5k's a week! Struggling more and more at the moment and will be going back work 3 days a week from next month so will be harder to get out.... So I bought a running buggy! Did 3.33 miles with it yesterday! Ooya bugger! Hard not using your arms for momentum!
Can I ask.... Those of you who run on your lunch breaks at work, do you have access to showers? I'm thinking I could jog to and from work (3 miles each way) but not sure if I fancy a strip wash in the ladies toilets and I have a fringe!!! Any advise?!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/03/2015 16:11

I thought the thread was quiet!! Didn't notice that it was full. Thanks OhOneOhTwoOhThree!

After some transport logistics I should be able to go to my clubs head torch run tonight. Both my running friends are doing it so I i can't drive to it I don't have anyone to run with and my car is likely to be in the garage until tomorrow evening now :(

Hi MrsWalhberg! I hope I'm running 6 weeks after my baby Smile no advice on showering around work as I run either super early before Dh goes to work or in the evening.

EdithDickie · 17/03/2015 16:47

Hi Mrs Wahlberg, I run at lunchtime and occasionally before work. No showers. I'm lucky and don't sweat too badly, get changed straight away, bit of deodorant and I'm fine. Have checked with trusted colleague who would definitely tell me if I stank!

2 miles from me today. Very, very hard! Stiff glutes and just not feeling it. Still, 2 miles better than nothing.

Thinking I am going to lose a few pounds before hm in April and 24 hour thing in May. Not overweight but definitely could lose a bit of podge. Got to help if I have a bit less of me to lug around!

EdithDickie · 17/03/2015 16:48

Ooh and my colleague I run with who has a fringe pins it back in a quiff for the actual run and then gives it a little blast of dry shampoo after and she looks great.

actiongirl1978 · 17/03/2015 17:16

No running today as I was at Grit plyo and abs this morning which absolutely killed me.

No snacking was going terribly well until I got home from the 25 mile round trip school run, and despite only being about 6 on my hunger scale, I ate the rest of the nuts I didn't eat at breakfast, a large chunk of dark chocolate, a strawberry and a mouthful of my son's fish pie.

There I feel better for confessing all of that Grin

Tomorrow I am starting with intervals at 6 am before a long day of driving, then children swimming lessons, therefore I will be out of the house and away from temptation.

We go to a super swanky hotel for the night in 2 weeks and I want my skinny jeans to have a reduced muffin top. This hotel is very much a place for very thin rich people to be. I want to not look like an old duffer.

actiongirl1978 · 17/03/2015 17:18

Oh and welcome Mrs Walhberg! I ran with a friend and her running buggy once, and goodness me it was super hard work, I don't know how you do it, huge respect. You will have amazing bum muscles!

Edithdickie I also have a HM the week after yours, good luck with the weight loss, obviously mine is going appallingly Grin
