to ask what item of clothing you'd love to own and wear but can't bring yourself to?

I would love:

  1. a pair of dungarees
  2. a baby blue velour tracksuit

but I feel too contrained by society and my arse (which is now decending down the back of my legs).

A vintage maxi dress. A big floppy hat....a pink bikini...a pair of high wasited flared jeans...massive high heels...Dh is short and hates me towering! Grin

1920s style hat and yes to dungarees but I would be very judged. .. unless I can email joules and persuade them to make some (would that make it acceptance?). I bought dd1 dungarees and I'm jealous Grin

I'd love to go out all fabulous ala Helena Bonham Carter but don't have the balls, so I'll probobly stick to black leggings and tunic tops for the foreseeable!

Anything backless or strapless, I just don't have the figure for it. My sister does and offers to lend me things when I admire them but it just wouldn't look the same and I'd be too uncomfortable to enjoy it.

I'd love a pair, in my head they'd be boyfriend style, worn with a fitted white shirt/t-shirt.

I actually bought a pair, but looked utterly ridiculous

I have always wanted a suede cowboy jacket with fringing (and yes I am aware that they are hideous). I did have a handbag with fringing that I loved, that's the closest I have come.

I did have yellow dungarees back in the '80s, loved them, then dyed them turquoise and loved them even more.

I love apron style dresses but feel they either look a bit childish or a bit middle-aged and frumpy, but if it was just me seeing me I would wear them all the time.

Skyscraper heels, but my feet are wrecked and I can't walk in them without severe pain.

Dainty little ballet flats. I have size 8s and they look like a pair of canoes.

Those 50s dresses with nipped-in waist and full skirt; I'm tall and a bit androgynous-looking and fear I'd look like Grayson Perry.

I too would love to look like Jane Birkin and Charlotte Gainsbourg, all insouciant.

I've always wanted a slinky catsuit.
Unfortunately I am 5ft4 and fat of arse. So look even shorter and fatter.

I have always wanted a triangle tie behind the back and neck type bikinis but have large and enthusiastic boobs that need firm control!

I am the proud owner of a beautiful baby blue vintage prom/ball gown.
When I was at uni and had balls to go to I wasn't confident enough to wear it, now I am confident enough to wear it (and tbh I don't think I'll be able to squish myself into it when I get older) I have nowhere to wear it.

Almost everything - I feel very fat and frumpy these days :( But specifically:

  • leather leggings
  • leather shorts
  • high heels (I was good at heels until spd happened and ruined my pelvis)
  • flippy skirts with a slightly cropped tshirt
  • vintage/tea/prom style dresses (used to suit me when I had a waist)
  • 'wiggle' skirts with a fitted top (as above)

I need a new look.

I wear leather look leggings virtually every time we go out! DP gets all excited and sings his 'shiny pants' song. The only time I've seen a woman in them looking bad was at 9:30am one morning and she was obviously doing the walk of shame.

Don't get to 80 and think 'I wish!!!' Do it now. That goes for nice underwear too, don't save it for a special occasion.

Linen clothes (in the summer). Look lovely fresh on and cool / loose fitting / swishy. Reality is that 10 seconds on I'm starting to look like a tramp lady as they gradually acquire more and more creases.
Quite fancy a jumpsuit too, but would feel like a prat out and about in one I think. (Again just doesn't go with my running around after the kids all day lifestyle.)

Jumpsuits (had one in the '80s again) are great when you have the bladder capacity of a 20 year old.

Anything backless - i have psoriasis, so i can't really show my back (not sure my boobs would appreciate flapping about either)

I do love dungarees, but at 43, i just think i'd look daft.
