AIBU?

Men are missing a trick by dressing SO BADLY

Overheard two American women on the bus discussing British male fashion.
Their inclination was that jogging bottoms should be burned and I agree.

Got me thinking that loads f women positively fantasise about certain kinds of male outfits: uniforms, britches, good boots, etc.
I'm not suggesting that men go out and get an officer's uniform and it's obviously not ok to suggest that men should dress "for" women, but what most men wear and what women like to see men wearing are totally different, would you agree?

AIBU to think men's fashion needs a bit of an overhaul anyway?

I think that all men should be made to go around dressed like Richard Armitage as Guy Of Gisborne.

God I look like a right sexist prat. Imagine this the other way around Blush

I just wondered I suppose if men knew what a total turn-off their clothes are (mainly). The power of a good suit instead of a drab one.

YANBU.

All men should dress like something out of a 19th century novel.

Or a highway man.

mmm.

You're not being sexist. DH regularly moans about the state of men's fashions, but then he is camper more sartorially inclined than most blokes. Grin

Yes, to highwaymen costumes.

Also if women dressed how men liked instead of drab boden

Boden is how Johnny Boden likes his harem to look. It's one man's sick fantasy.

Men should wear RAF uniform. Or frock coats. Or kilts with woolly jumpers.

Yes, and definitely vice versa too.

I love a man in a good suit! Nothing better. Jogging bottoms are awful, just so lazy. The fact that they are meant for wear during sport means I automatically assume that anyone wearing them needs a shower too. Not sexy.
Not so keen on all the high fashion wear either though - am I weird?

OK I have a few converts to the cause.
I'd like to see:
More fantastically-cut tweed suits
More kilts and I totally agree about the jumpers with
More insouciantly-tied neckerchiefs, lace edging optional
More exquisite cuffs with several small buttons
Poofier cut shirts (poofy as in lots of fabric)
More linen
Britches and riding boots not as fancy dress

What do men like women to wear, MrSpoc? Please don't say that men expect us to totter about looking like Jordan every day...

Riding boots - HOT DANG!

A man in polo playing gear gets a party going in my pants, I must say.

Ugh, yes, DP consantly eresses in jeans and tshirts and the tshirts are usually faded and/or misshapen. His idea of smart is a suit which doesn't actually fit :s I don't get it because he actually has a really nice body. I suppose it didn't put me off thogh! :o

YAB totally U. Male here.

I want all women to dress in a mix of ball gowns, pirate outfits, boiler suits ( if posses long hair), wrap around dresses ( if posses required norkage), knees high boots with opaque tights, or battle clothes a la Joan of Arc.

I will consider other styles for women to wear shortly. Of course all of this only relates to women I fancy. The others needn't bother.
