Hi, I’ve just shared this on the January starters thread but feel that I may be more at home here.

It’s been a month since I started my MJ journey.
I ordered MJ just before Christmas, after a lot of research and soul-searching. I decided to take my first dose on Boxing Day evening. A little Xmas gift to myself!

I started with the 2.5mg dose and last week I stepped up to 5mg. So far, it’s been a smooth transition.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised to experience very few negative side effects No nausea, headaches, or other common complaints.

I noticed appetite suppression from day one which has helped me manage my cravings and reduce the food noise.

I am finding it tough to hit my daily protein goals, whist maintaining a range of 1500–1700 calories per day. So work to do there!

SW - 127.7kg
CW - 121.2 kg
GW - 90kg

gimmemounjaro · 26/01/2025 20:36

Popping in to placemark, welcome @SlimmingCavendish. I don't think I have ever hit my protein target in 7 months 😖
I still don't really know how people do it!

Orangesandlemons77 · 26/01/2025 20:40

Placemarking x

SilenceInside · 26/01/2025 20:56

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping thanks for the new thread.

I'm almost at 7 stone down but still with 5 stone and a bit to go.

Darlinghag · 26/01/2025 20:59

Hello to thread 5! Thanks @VelociraptorsVelociRapping !

I can only eat mine if I eat meat two meals a day, but I do generally get past 100g+. It involves a lot of chicken, beef, eggs and cottage cheese. I don’t buy many things that have protein in the title. I’d rather have a regular chocolate bar than a protein that tastes rank!

Just jabbed 8mg for a second week. This is my 24th dose, so I am fairly close to the six month mark, which feels wild!!

I’ve done a little more wardrobe decluttering via Vinted. I realised this week that a few items that I picked up during this time have actually gotten too big without ever wearing them. All I have left is a handful of jeans/wide legged trousers and some casual tops and tshirts, plus one singular smart outfit and a dress that I have kept just in case, for now. I keep seeing nice things but I am changing so rapidly, I need to only buy when events are upon me!

PrincessPeache · 26/01/2025 21:02

I hit 100lbs loss today 🥹 I honestly never thought this could have been possible!

Jfw82 · 26/01/2025 21:13

Checking in with just under 3lbs to go to 5 stone down Shock and just under 7lbs to hit top of healthy BMI! the support on these threads has helped so much. Here's to the new thread and how much we will achieve whilst it's running!

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 26/01/2025 21:19

Congrats @PrincessPeache ! That’s amazing

SilenceInside · 26/01/2025 21:21

Brilliant @PrincessPeache! I'm just about 6 pounds away from the 100lbs total loss, and impatient to get there.

HansHolbein · 26/01/2025 21:25

Hi all, hope it’s okay if I join too. Started at 16st 2lbs/102kg BMI 37.7 and goal weight is 9st/57kg BMI 21. I’m 5’5.

Currently at 12st 13lb/82kg. Still a while to go.

It’s all going so well and I am very thankful.
What has been the biggest change is my PCOS symptoms. I’ve gone from years of no periods to having 3 in a row!

I’ve just moved to Cloud from Asda. No problems with Asda it’s just that they don’t offer maintenance.

Currently on 7.5 but have ordered 10 for my next jab on Sunday.

Anyway, hello!

velvetseven · 26/01/2025 21:54

Hello all, 3 months in and am just over 2 stone down. I’m still on 5mg, trying to stay on a low dose for as long as the suppression works.
i aim for around 1200 calories a day, and feel full or satisfied most of the time. In fact sometimes I feel so full I think I’ve overeaten and “blown it”. It often surprises me that I’ve lost weight and not gained.
my next goal is 8lbs away, I’ll move to overweight bmi, hurray! I’m already missing the pads of fat between my knees when I try to sleep on my side. If this is what I have to endure to be a healthy weight, bring it on!

Thanks for the new thread!
I'm 9 months in, weight loss of 4st 7 pounds. I would like to lose another two stone.
I've struggled with protein since before Christmas. I was doing okay but got a long lingering flu wasn't really hungry and turned to carbs. Carbs have became my default and its messing everything up. I'm hungrier, eating more calories and drinking less water.
I've started to turn things around the last couple of days and I feel more able now so fingers crossed.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/01/2025 22:18

Report your post and ask MN if they can change you name for the thread. They have done it for me before.

alltablenochairs · 26/01/2025 22:34

Hopefully this works for me- I have one username for the MJ threads and one username for everything else. Only DH and my best friend know about my use of MJ and I'd rather not broadcast it to the wider world. If anyone asks about my weightloss, they get told that I was unwell last year (I had sepsis in March 2024) and had a bit of a wake up call. I still have a long, long way to go before my BMI is in the 'acceptable' range though.

I've been taking MJ for 4 and a half months so far and have lost 18kg. For those who use 'old money' that's just short of 3 stone. I'm coming up to my 1st target which is a loss of 20kg. That would take me to the weight I was when I was discharged from hospital last year. So time for a new target. This time it's going to be to lose 29kg. This is the weight I was when I had my pregnancy booking in appointment with my youngest who's now 11 and a half.

Can I do it? Absolutely.

MooBaggage · 26/01/2025 22:36

Checking in! I'm a relative newbie - will be starting week 3 tomorrow and am not weighing weekly - trying to break stupid slimming club habits which didn't do me any good..!

But I can report 3 x small wins (can't remember the acronym 😁)

  1. I walked a mile each way last night to/from a restaurant - unthinkable 3 x weeks ago
  1. I walked them in 'normal' knee high boots, because MJ seems to have got rid of my plantar fasciitis after many years - I honestly thought it was with me for life - and I haven't worn non- PF (ugly!) footwear for years...!
  1. I wore my favourite 2 x rings, which I haven't been able to wear for ?? 5 years?!

So I think it's fair to say the MJ is definitely helping with inflammation, never mind weight loss..!

I am happier, more positive and more hopeful re: the future me than I have been in decades.

I'll weigh on and off when I want to - am reckoning I'm about 1/2 stone down in 2 weeks.

Arglefraster · 26/01/2025 23:43

Thanks for the new thread @VelociraptorsVelociRapping

Fantastic to read everyone's wins 🎉

My contribution is I realised today I've dropped 5 bmi points since starting on 1stNovember - so very far to go but it's adding up 😃

According by to nutracheck my average daily protein is 90g - I don't use any products except powdered collagen which gives me 10g/day. Lots of cottage cheese, Greek yogurt plus meat at one meal most days gets me there.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/01/2025 23:45

Hello all.
New here and looking for a space of bigger people loosing on MJ.

I am starting week 2.
Week one a success with 8lbs loss. Would love that to continue.

I had the shock of my life seeing 136kg on the scale making my BMI 46.

I had put on 15 kg since I last weighed so my initial goal is:
Get under 130
Get under 20 stone
Previous weight 121 kg

But in actual fact I am not sure what my goal is beyond that and what's realistic.
I would need to get to 88 to get to 'over weight' which is about the best I ever remember being.
That's 50kG!!! Wow and that scares me.

How did you set you his weight?
Is BMI helpful you think?

MounjoJarry · 26/01/2025 23:52

Hi everyone! Hope you won’t mind if I join 🙂

I have 30kg to lose and started MJ a week ago. I haven’t had any side effects but sadly no appetite suppression either… I am hoping I will start to notice it working when I go up to 5mg but that’s not for another three weeks.

Did anybody else not respond to 2.5mg? I’m trying not to worry as I read that 2.5mg is not a “therapeutic” dose but is supposed to help your body get used to the drug. Worth mentioning that I have PCOS and hypothyroidism so perhaps this is affecting things?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/01/2025 00:07

@MounjoJarry hi and welcome! There are many, many people who did not have an instant reaction. MJ builds in your system reaching a peak around the third week. If you have a play around on a glp1 plotter or an app like Shotsy or HappyScale you will see the predicted amount in your system at any time. I have found it really useful to help understand how I am reacting! Good luck!

Fedupdoc · 27/01/2025 00:22

Hi all hope it’s ok to join
started in November. Was a wimp and didn’t want to weigh for ages (pathologically scared of the scales) but think I was 15 stone 7 ish
now 14, 1
aiming for 9,7 so 6 stone total loss
feels like I’ve made tiny progress, then remind myself 20lb is incredible
I’m currently on 5mg mounjaro but moving up soon

I barely lost on 2.5. Once I went up to 5mg I lost 6lb in a week. Really panicked I wouldn’t respond but I did. Try not to worry

gimmemounjaro · 27/01/2025 01:29

@MounjoJarry
2.5mg did nothing for me, I lost 4lbs in 4 weeks. The last couple of weeks I actually gained. I lost more than that in 4 days on 5mg and ended up losing 12lbs in 4 weeks. It's annoying when everyone else seems to be losing loads straight away but your experience is more normal, so don't worry yet!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 27/01/2025 07:44

@MounjoJarry I also started a week ago.
What is your jab day?

Hadn't realised there were apps to track MJ, I have avoided calorie counting and food tracking as this has never worked for me before so will be relying on help from MJ which allows better food choices for me so far and stopping eating in the evening at 6pm (mostly fear of side effect over night).
