Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Thanks OYBBK. I can do cold, and will pretend I didn't hear the snow/school possibility. Smile

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 27/12/2014 14:56

Fingers crossed for more snow.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/12/2014 14:58

Could do without snow that week tbh!

Thanks Thanks

BrightestAndBest · 27/12/2014 15:01

I'd quite like snow (although not at the expense of having the kids at home for any longer - 3 weeks holiday is more than enough).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/12/2014 15:04

I would like some snow, but I would find that week a bit of a challenge!

I've got to take dd to a hospital appt in Southampton that week. When we went two years ago it had snowed and it was snow fun I tell you Wink

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2014 15:27

Snow now, or never.

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 27/12/2014 15:46

For those of use with no kids - which week do you all mean ?

Cindy34 · 27/12/2014 16:07

I guess return to school week is week beginning 5th Jan, though some go back earlier/later.

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2014 16:14

YY DS2 back 5/1 then DS1 6/1. It wouldn't be great but if it's that bad then the bus can't get to the stop then DS1 can't get on the bus I guess.

WhispersOfWickedness · 27/12/2014 16:16

Well, quite, Sparkling.
Snow now would be good, nowhere to be until DH goes back to work on the 2nd, house full of food, nobody at work/school.
Snow the week of the 5th would be disasterous! Kids to get to school (if it is even open Hmm), DH to get to work and we are away the weekend of the 10th Jan Angry

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2014 16:18

YY Whispers now would be better. Grin

Will the snow reach London at some point? (Hopeful) Xmas Smile

JKSLtd · 27/12/2014 16:49

So disappointed to miss out this time round I think I almost want it even that week.
But mostly I want the house to myself again just for a few previous hours.
Dilemma!

SwedeDreams · 27/12/2014 18:34

I can remember about 3/4 years ago when it was actually snowy in London over Christmas. Proper thick snow. We had about three lovely snowy winters when DS was too small to appreciate it, then the last three years have been rubbish! Sigh...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/12/2014 19:09

Hashtag, I'm afraid I can't answer that with any guarantee at present.

I always say this but for me I need six foot or none. it's the three inches where i am all 'shall i get the car out and have a go' and then wish I hadn't.
A nice deep load where you have to dig your way out for me.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 27/12/2014 19:16

Fingers crossed for new year snow.

DidoTheDodo · 27/12/2014 20:02

I'd quite like snow for the week beginning 5th jan, as I go back to work then and would prefer to work from home.
Being in the south east corner of England I will probably have to wait for the wind to turn and come from Siberia for that to happen.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/12/2014 20:24

Oh dear lord. I am supposed to be heading to cambridgeshire weekend before the schools go back. Best keep the snow chains and shovel in the car then

VivaLeBeaver · 27/12/2014 20:32

Is it snowing in Lincoln now does anyone know

PseudoBadger · 27/12/2014 20:52

Thanks Badger. Got back now. Was getting worried as it started snowing again in sth Yorkshire.

WhispersOfWickedness · 28/12/2014 08:32

Only a very mild frost here this morning!
I'm starting to think our village has suddenly developed its own little microclimate!Hmm
