Harry and Meghan biography

Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

If this is true then they are more stupid than I thought. But I would probably read it. Their story is fascinating in a grim sort of way.
I feel sorry for them and their son because they seemed to have abandoned family and old friends. And for what?

It'll sell, but not for the reasons they want. People will read it and despise them even more.

When Diana: Her true story was published, a majority of people had sympathy with Diana. Her story invoked sympathy and there was purchase in the narrative that the Royal family had chewed her up and spat her out.

Not so with Harry and Meghan. The people's respect for and patience with them has already evaporated.

When the book comes out they will have a few weeks in the headlines and talk shows but afterwards noone will want to touch them with a barge pole.

I'll definitely buy it! I do remember having mixed emotions about the Andrew Morton book as it was clear Diana was very unhappy but I didn't think it was the best way of solving her problems. Andrew Morton was also a diligent journalist who endeavoured to do a proper job when writing the book, not someone enthralled to Diana. The book also had a massive impact because Diana was so popular particularly compared to Charles so people were likely to believe it. I do believe the majority of people dislike the way M and H have handled things so they have an uphill struggle to convince their readers of their victimhood.

I won't be able to read it for the same reason I can't read Heat magazine (where Scobie perfected his writing 'style'); it's difficult to read whilst constantly rolling your eyes.

The difference between the Diana book and Meghan's is that Diana had been married for 9years before the book was published, had had 2 children (one of which would be a future king) and had just generally been there a long time. Meghan hasn't even been a royal for 2 years and has spent the last 6months or so abroad. So, what 18 months? And with a newborn baby? It's just not long enough to really shine true light on the RF. Plus she is not married to a direct line heir so it's really more along the lines of Sarah Ferguson then Diana.

I suspect the book will be about H&M's "journey" (eyeroll])as royals, with chapters added as to why they needed to leave the BRF.

I'll read excerpts reported in papers - do not want to bankroll either the writers or H&M (assuming they take a cut for cooperating).

I'm neither a strong royalist or republican, but there's something hypocritical about making a huge drama out of leaving the royal family, claiming you want privacy and then selling your memoirs to air your dirty laundry in public.

I would be surprised if they criticize the BRF. First, I don't think Harry would do this. I do believe, even if he is not on best terms with William, that he does care for his family, and wouldn't do something to hurt either his father or grandmother. Second, their funding would disappear.

But then again, he did look extremely pissed off at Westminster Abbey the other week.

I reckon Harry’s development was arrested at 12 when his mother died. Since he’s met M he’s grown into a teenager...

I suspect that this is an attempt to force the Royal Family into continuing to fund them and their lifestyle. I think that Meghan has worked out that A list super stardom is dead in the water.
So the next step for them is to use what they have. Maybe diaries, possibly detailed interactions with various members of the Royal family.
It will be very interesting to see what happens next.

The biography of the couple, provisionally called Thoroughly Modern Royals: The Real World of Harry and Meghan, is due to be published in August by an American publisher, Dey Street Books.

It was originally intended for publication last year but a delay meant that the authors, journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who have both given favourable coverage to Meghan, have been able to include the period of the couple’s withdrawal from royal duties. The Mail on Sunday reported that Harry and Meghan gave an interview to the authors before moving to North America.^

How can they be referred to as "Thoroughly modern Royals"? They aren't royal anymore. Maybe the palace will take action, or will they will only be able to publish it overseas?

Years ago a Housekeeper for Charles and Diana wrote a tell all book about her life with them and it was banned in Britain . I think Charles was behind the Court action .
Might something similar happen with this book ?

It can't possibly turn out be the same book which was planned a year ago. I can see how an upbeat version was possible back then, but circumstances have changed dramatically and no credible biography can ignore what's happened in the last six months.

It probably didn't start out intending to be a dirty laundry version, but it may well turn into one, and I would envisage that's got a lot to do with William's apparent simmering rage. He must feel betrayed.

One day in the not so distant future, William will be in charge of the royal purse strings and I suspect he'll be less malleable than his father. H might do well to keep that in mind.
