I quite like William but he always gives himself too much to do

I don't think David is yet at the standard of the others (but he's a nice bloke)

I sort of admire Hannah's food but probably wouldn't eat it myself

and Ben's food kind of looks pretty with no substance (though, his food certainly looks yummy and I'd have no trouble eating it!)

think they thought William was too cocky and Harriet's dish just looked a bit odd and messy - was surprised that David went through ahead of Harriet because she can cook better than him (the skin and Kale were pretty big mistakes) but I think they like his style of cooking better

Between Dave and Harriet with possibly Harriet just coming out on top.

I think Gregg and John really like David -
Steven is creepy though ! Hannah is very interesting though but might come unstuck. I'd cook Gregg lovely puddings to win (preferably with pears !)

when I said 'I quite like William but he gives himself too much to do' I meant Steven!

where's pointydog (fellow masterchef fan)?

have been studying Gregg's head over the last few episodes and noticed the top of his head is a bit like the back of a Bactrian camel.

i find hannah oddly charismatic, can't put my finger on why yet.

Pears Binker? You mean figs.

I was glad David went through, otherwise it would have been a bit too hoity-toity accent wise! I like his ideas regardless of lack of finesse yet.

David is the one who makes food I want to eat most.

But I like Hannah more

There is something very strange about Steven

And the other bloke is too poncey for my liking

TwoIfBySea · 05/03/2007 23:16

Hannah looks the type that if you visited her house she would cook you such a damn good meal you'd never want to leave.

Never trust a skinny cook!

And Ben is a bit poncy, began to warm a little when he nearly cried at getting through. Seems a bit arrogant though.

Stephen is a bag of nerves. Whenever the judges say anything nice about his food he starts to relax and enjoy himself.

TwoIfBySea - no pears (though Gregg aseems to love figs too ) - over previous MChefs he has got very excited over pears !
Hannah looks as though she should be in a large farmhouse kitchen....

I like David best, Ben is trying too hard and seems like a bit of a pratt (even though he has a wonderful name - same as ds's!!!)

I honestly think Ben is at the other end of a breakdown somewhere. He was an investment broker or something in the City then suddenly quit to open a cheese shop. His emotions are very very close to the surface & he seems to beat himself up a lot

Anyone else irritated by Greg's loud voice, John sticking his tongue right out when putting a forkful in and the phrase "a clean plate of food"

Report
oxocube · 06/03/2007 17:38

Oh I missed this last night and was so cross! Agree Ben is very emotional - always looks like he's on the verge of bursting into tears. I like the Geordie guy (David?) but then I'm from Newcastle! His fish in the quarter finals looked delish.

Hannah makes weird stuff but I'd love to try her food! Am really looking forward to the next heat tonight

Shoppingbags, I think they are both disusting eaters and wish Greg would get his bloody teeth cleaned. Okay, so he's a smoker, but surely when you're on national telly, you'd make a bit more effort in the dental department

Gregg can do no wrong in our house - even with grimy teeth ! But agree about John sticking his tongue out before he shoves a forkful in. I absolutely hate the voice over - the commentary is inane and repetitive and really doesn't add anything to it.

OMG!!! They were at my old school today, so weird seeing it on TV!! My friend has two of her dc's at the school, she didn't tell me about it!! Probably just as well, I would have been stalking John and Greg!!

I hate the way John "clacks" the bloody cutlery against his teeth EVERY time he has a taste of something. Grrrrr

Report
Iklboo · 07/03/2007 13:35

Oh - and DH reckons John looks like Garfields owner (in the comic strip cartoon)

Report
binker · 07/03/2007 15:49

that's probably because he has to get his tongue out to taste and there's not much room so he hits his teeth...

Poor Hannah seems to have lost the plot - real shame because I like her best. I think Geordie David will win - he's just got that bit more passion for it than Ben. Hannah will go on Friday if she doesn't start believing in herself, otherwise Steven will go: he just doesn't seem to be in the same league as the others imo

I don't know what is up with Hannah. She went to pot after that giant Salmon monstrosity.

I still quite like Steven (his disorganised way in the kitchen reminds me of myself!) but I doubt he's going to last much longer.

Ben did v well today.

I like David but could do without his constant reminders about how he's only ever had pie and chips etc. etc.

lol @ giant salmon monstrosity

has geordie david got a massive chip on his shoulder?

he didn't work well with ben in the team tasks and comes across as being a bit cocky

Report
foxinsocks · 07/03/2007 23:16

lol at giant chip

He is very cocky - I thought he'd screw up that souffle thing but he didn't (well, he did serve one of them scrambled egg). I do think they let him get away with more mistakes than the others but often, his food does appear more edible.
