Woo hoo! It's the second Bullet Journal thread! For the benefit of newbies - Bullet Journal is a brilliant way to organise your whole life in a lovely notebook. Perfect for anyone who has tried every app and every scheduling system but just can't seem to get on top of things. Also perfect for lovers of beautiful stationery and especially for people who like lists!

Sooo - get out your fineliners and your washi tape! Stroke your Leuchtturms! And get all that stuff that's whizzing round in your head out onto paper instead!

Thanks to this thread I have been putting time aside each night to sit and practise my handwriting. I'm not convinced it is getting any neater, but it is starting to hurt less.

I hand wrote a letter to a friend last month and had to keep stopping due to cramp.

I am shocked at how little I write these days. Is it just me, or are most people typing mostly?

I had two meetings today..

First one with a prospective employee and we talked about numbers for an hour or so then I got my Bujo out to write something in it and she squealed excitedly and got her pencil case of lovely pens out. She doesn't bujo but I think I can win her over to the dark side...

Second meeting with prospective client, talk for over an hour about numbery things then get my bujo out to put in our next meeting and she coo'ed over it and asked me questions so I showed it off and she admired me it and said she was working on a project to encourage people to move offline more and would I send her some links...

Then an older lady came over and said "I have to say how much I love that" pointing at my bujo! It wasn't one of you was it?

And there was a Paperchase next to our meeting so I bought a pack of pretend washi tape though they seem a bit plasticy so I'm not sure about them. I wanted to stay longer and stroke things but I was on a meter.

And I didn't get a ticket for being 10 mins over my meter time.

Perfect day

Thank you merciful. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to add a link to the first thread for those that find this thread and wonder what the hell wankery we are talking about Grin.

I have added a very useful page into my BuJo - An 'Online Order Tracker'. I find I order things and some things take two weeks to arrive and I've forgotten that I've ordered them with the chaos of daily life. So now I am logging the date I bought something, what the item is and when it arrives. I don't do a huge amount of online shopping, or so I thought. In a week I am already tracking 4 items. It will come into its own at Christmas.

I've also set up March. I'm trying things differently this next month. I am not using a printable monthly but just a list of dates going down the page. this will just track events, not reminders, or weekly recurring things (like swimming lessons). Those I do in Google Calendar.

On the next page I'm tracking my son's GCSE revision. He has to do 30 mins daily. He has to tell me what he is revising and I then log it so that I can ask him about it later. It worked during half term (and he told me he appreciated my bossiness!). Like most teenage boys he is soooooo laid back about work.

The next page is my habit tracker, then I've got my 'nag tracker' and my housework tracker and family meal log (each has its own page).

I've given over a double page spread to 'March Spending'. I've never tracked my spend in detail before, so it was an interesting reveal during Feb.

I'm doing my 'daily log' differently this month. I've decided I want a weekly log with the week split out on the left hand side and the right will be the weekly task list as I found it a bore to keep copying over things that I hadn't managed to find time to do on a particular day. I've decided to set out all five weeks of March as double page spreads next to each other so that my daily/weekly planning runs into each other. So I've headed the pages and left them blank for the time being (and have indexed them). So anything else will come after that before I set up April.

I'm considering doing a 'memories' page for Feb. Is anyone else doing this? It seemed a lovely idea to me, to make the journal more personal rather than just an organisational tool.

Sounds like you're spreading the word, kew. I was very excited to find washi tape in a craft shop today and bought 2 rolls, and some coloured pens. I also bit the bullet and ordered the diary cover, hope I won't be disappointed.

Couldn't find the Lidl labels on the website so am just adding a picture because I'm pleased with them - can write on them in fountain pen as long I'm patient whilst it dries!

Also thought today that a lightbulb tracker might be bloody useful. But I was shopping on my way home from work and am not sure how much personal/home stuff I want to be taking with me there. Not much really.

Also, and going off topic, I'm still searching for the perfect bag for taking to work - must be wide and high enough to fit A4 folders in, and also deep enough to fit a packed lunch (e.g. sistema microwaveable mug). Not stupidly expensive. And I must like it, which is tricky. There are so many bags in this house, and none of them fit the brief!

kewcumber That sounds like a great day :)

I have been experimenting with my daily log layout and decided that actually weekly is better. It was just turning into pages of task lists so I think weekly is more practical - I'll have a box for each day with the things that need to be done that day there and then a column down the side for stuff the I need to get around to at some point (I haven't totally embraced the JFDI principle yet as you can probably tell).

I need to stop looking at pinetrest - I get all inspired and thinking I could do that, and then I try and it looks like my 5 year old did it.

I don't quite understand what you're all doing with stickers, coloured pens and washi tape - just fancying it all up, or using colour to improve the system?

Report
whoreandpeace · 23/02/2016 22:48

Devora - it makes each page look different and have its own 'vibe'. You don't have to do this, but it makes it more of a journal than just a notebook. I'm having such fun practicing lots of different fonts, learning to do artful doodles and using stickers to prettify a page. I'm finding the primary school me again Wink

Ooh a shiny new thread!

I am enjoying seeing everyone else's pretty pages. I devoid of all creativity so my only prettification is purple, pink and turquoise ink.

Report
Kewcumber · 23/02/2016 23:18

Bit of both Devora - I use colour to distinguish events for different clients and personal stuff and I have a bit of a doodle when I'm planning and colour some stuff in just for fun and I'm planning to use the washi tape to make tabs for pages I use a lot so I'm not reliable on one bookmark.

I don;t draw pictures or add fancy stickers but I do like my bujo to look nice 'ish as it feeds the illusions that I'm in control of something

Morning all. I think I am going to try a weekly log next week as there are lots of jobs which aren't date specific. I mainly use Google Calendar for future planning as dp and I can see each others calendars, but I'm going to copy everything over for the weekly planner I think.

Report
Mookbark · 24/02/2016 07:41

Mine is mainly in black fountain pen. I do have some boxes to colour in when I've achieved a goal. I could get carried away with making it look pretty, but that would be procrastinating which is what I'm using my BuJo to avoid. Grin

Do many of you put boxes around your daily log entries? I've started doing it and it makes it look nicer, I think.
